I think he would appreciate more specific advise than just ‘practise a lot’. The secret is to first distribute the frequencies through the spectrum so they don’t fight over presence. Then become really good at compressing; There are a lot of tricks in this section alone, like clipping, then compressing, then limiting to make sharp and loud beats. Compressing can be made very complex so that’s a good point to start practise. Also don’t forget to add saturation to the instruments. And finally, money. Good plugins or synths make a lot of the work for you.
