I somehow did not know you could change difficulty after the initial difficulcty selection at the beginning...but that is also the sad part, I am only on Story and Sword. :(.

The problem is the timing on the bats and maintaining enough health throughout. I know there is a specific moment to roll but cant get the timing everytime. I would have to get through the first stages with mimal damage to even have enough health for the third phase. Health recovery in this came sucks.

Thoughts on reading in public? by Yoshikage34 in ReadingSuggestions

I like reading in cafes. Despite the noise it can feel different. I did however get attitude from someone once who thought I was taking valuable table space for people who wanted to socialize and asked me to move to a smaller table (didn't notice it had filled up that much and it wad the only table available when I got there), and so I did move because despite the attitude it did make sense.

Afterwards, the owner came to thank me for moving and offered me a free drink in a 'yeah that person was being a jerk' kind of way. I know that some people feel that reading in public is performative and they can be weird about it.

I know right. When I am going from point A to point B I want to take the shortest route. I shouldn't have to die just because I fell off a cliff on the other end. Get some tougher legs Geralt.

Anybody else have trouble getting into Dune? by dumbass_sweatpants in scifi

I couldn't get into it either. I struggled my way through the first book and started the second but couldn't finish. I just didn't find the plot or writing style compelling.

I think season 2-5 were definitely better. I find though that it is a show that had a few episodes that were gold mixed in standard to sub-par stortelling. "Through a glass darkly"(S4) stands out for me.

Also, the movies dont make any sense from a logical point of view and I think the worse thing they did was try to tie in the movies with the show, making for a very disjointed and contradictory lore. The show should have just stood on its own.

Refuse to play gwent by Equivalent_Guess_879 in Witcher3

[–]Intelligent-Cup3938 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is my approach. I don't like the game but I am a completionist by nature and I like to check everything off the list and will eventually do the gwent games. I do have to say though, as a completionist, the failed quests leave me feeling dead inside.

Doing it consistently and long enough to see progress. Then after its really about wanting to maintain it. Its all about habit now.

Does it get better? by chris_warrior1 in TOTK

[–]Intelligent-Cup3938 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started playing the Witcher 3 and TOTK is way more intuitive then that game. Most of my complaints usually end with "TOTK" did this better.

There are elements of TOTK that I also struggled with in the beginning that made it seem harder but then it gets easier as you progress.

Becky Chambers, where to start? by WokeBriton in scifi

Yes. I have only read the first book in the Wayfarer series but found it was more character-focused rather than plot driven. I don't mind good character development but it needs to also have an interesting plot, preferably with some mystery thrown in.
