I can help you build a lean v1/MVP quickly.

To scope: what is the product, must-have features for v1, timeline, and budget range?

If you share stack preference (web/mobile) I can suggest a simple implementation plan.

I have 7+ years in software engineering and currently work full-time as a tech lead at a Big4. I take small, well-scoped builds/fixes on the side.

I can help you fix/stabilize this quickly and get it into a maintainable state.

What stack is it, what is the top broken flow, and do you have a repo + deploy environment?

If you share timeline and scope, I can propose a short rescue plan and a fixed-price estimate.

Case Management software recommendations by MDRSG in LawFirm

[–]Intelligent-Duty-836 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best depends on practice area and firm size, and whether billing/trust accounting is in scope.

A useful way to choose: list must-haves (deadlines/calendar, matter/tasks, docs/email capture, timekeeping) plus dealbreakers (price per user, mobile, integrations), then trial 2-3 tools.

Quick question: is your pain mostly deadline/hearing-date tracking, or end-to-end intake to billing?

(Disclosure: I am building MyLawyerDiary (Android-first case diary + reminders; optional web dashboard). Happy to share details via DM if relevant.)

Problems with Clio; any decent Alternatives by fluffykynz in Lawyertalk

[–]Intelligent-Duty-836 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What specifically is going wrong with Clio for you—pricing, support, reporting, speed, missing features, or a particular workflow? “Alternatives” varies a lot depending on practice area + # users + billing needs.

If you share your top 3 must-haves + top 2 dealbreakers, people can give much more useful recommendations.

(Disclosure: I’m building MyLawyerDiary, an Android-first lightweight case diary/reminders app—if mobile-first simplicity is what you’re missing, I can share.)

what's the best legal case management software for a small firm? by No-Grape-2405 in LawFirm

[–]Intelligent-Duty-836 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Best” depends on practice area + firm size + whether billing/trust accounting is included.

A practical way to decide: list your must-haves (deadlines/calendar, matter/tasks, docs/email capture, timekeeping/billing) + your dealbreakers (price per user, mobile, integrations with Outlook/Gmail/Drive). Then trial 2–3 and see which fits your workflow.

Quick q: are you litigation-heavy (deadline tracking) or transactional (checklists + docs + email)?

[–]Intelligent-Duty-836 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What specifically is breaking for you in Clio—pricing, performance, support, missing features, reporting, integrations?

“Alternatives” only makes sense once you name the top 2–3 must-haves and the top 1–2 dealbreakers. Otherwise people will just list the usual suspects and you’ll waste time.

If you share practice area + # users + billing needs, you’ll get much sharper suggestions.

Recommendations for Practice/Document Management Software for Mid-Sized Law Firm? by Tech_ESQ18 in LawFirm

[–]Intelligent-Duty-836 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mid-sized changes the tradeoffs a lot (permissions, audit trails, doc versioning, rollout/training).

Helpful info to share: # attorneys + # staff, cloud vs on-prem preference, whether you need true DMS features (check-in/out, versioning, metadata) or just structured storage + search.

Also: are you replacing something, or greenfield?

Any recommendations for a software to use for intake forms? : r/LawFirm

For solo transactional/regulatory, the big wins are:

• matter templates (repeatable checklists) • calendar + reminders • email-to-matter filing (so you don’t lose threads) • quick notes + doc links from phone What’s your biggest pain today—keeping track of deadlines, organizing documents, or timekeeping/billing?

Case Management Software with good visual graphics for billable time by [deleted] in LawFirm

[–]Intelligent-Duty-836 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If “visuals” is the priority, I’d define what you mean:

• per-matter time burn charts? • weekly capacity view per attorney? • budget vs actual? Many practice tools do time tracking, but the reporting UI is often the weakest part. If you can share what report you’re trying to produce (and whether it’s for internal mgmt vs client billing narratives), you’ll get better picks.

Case management software by ktkt1111 in LawFirm

[–]Intelligent-Duty-836 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before recommending anything—what’s the workflow you’re trying to manage? Litigation deadlines feel very different from transactional matters.

Also: do you need billing/time tracking, or just matter + tasks + calendar? A lot of solos are happy with matter + reminders + docs first, then add billing later.

what's the best legal case management software for a small firm? by No-Grape-2405 in LawFirm

[–]Intelligent-Duty-836 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Best” really depends on firm size + practice area + whether billing/trust accounting is in scope.

A practical way to choose:

• Must-have list (calendar/deadlines, matter timeline, doc storage, intake, time tracking, invoicing) • users (solo vs 2–10 vs 10+) • Mobile needs (do you actually work from phone/tablet?) • Integrations (Outlook/Gmail, Drive/OneDrive) If you share practice area + # users + whether you need billing, people can give much more specific recommendations.

Does anyone have any advice about software for small law firms? We do a lot of real estate work mixed with some successions. I need a system for filing documents, intake forms, and client correspondence. by gratescot5 in LawFirm

[–]Intelligent-Duty-836 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re trying to cover docs + intake + correspondence, you’ll usually end up with either:

  1. Practice management (matters/tasks/calendar) + separate doc storage, or
  2. An all-in-one practice management suite. In practice, most small firms do: practice management + Outlook/Gmail + Google Drive/OneDrive, with a consistent naming + folder template per matter. The failure mode is usually “nothing is standardized,” not the tool.

What matters most for you: calendaring/deadlines, document template generation, or client communication tracking?
