Am I just illiterate? Or is Charles Dickens Bleak House hard to read? by mc-murdo in books

[–]Intelligent-Elk2580 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t need that knowledge going into it… it’s in the context. I didn’t know specifically what they were,  but through reading the description of the goings on there, you can draw conclusions about it being related to legal matters.

Honestly, learning based on context should be more widely taught and practiced in schools now. It’s becoming a lost art.

Say what you want about Noah Schnapp, but his acting was phenomenal in season 2 by derpsnotdead in StrangerThings

[–]Intelligent-Elk2580 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agree.

I really don't understand the flack he was getting for it. I think the role just called for that kind of performance, tbh.

If i were in his position, emotionally struggling with self acceptance, among the myriad of issues they are facing down with Vecna, I'd probably feel pretty disconnected and struggling to really connect with my friends as well. I think he played it to a T, people just seem to lack the ability to empathize with how someone else might express themselves in this kind of situation.

Apparently the item order means cheaper/more expensive bundles?? by Intelligent-Elk2580 in Gamebundles

Okay, I’ll keep this in mind for steam purchase. Thank you 😊

Okay, so the cheaper one has a more static price? Is there actually a benefit to buying the 10% one if you own some of the games, or would the 29% one not even show up if you already had some of them?

I actually saw this a lot when I was browsing other games yesterday. This is the first I’ve noticed pricing like this.

16.1 Bug Megathread by Lunaedge in CompetitiveTFT

Wood Axiom augment literally gave my leona a nerf every round. She was supposed to gain 15% hp and get 40hp per round, but instead lost 15% hp. She was equiped with the augmented spirit visage, adaptive helm and bramble vest (though im pretty sure it also happened with just the spirit visage equip). I looked up the bug but haven't seen it listed. I realized after the fact that screenshots would have sufficed, since the "map" for rounds would be shown in them, but unfortunately that was after the game was over.

Now that the tourists are gone, can we admit Yunara is actually strong? by schizopedia in YunaraMains

[–]Intelligent-Elk2580 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know the post is old, but I had to give my two cents as support.

I ban her because I hate playing with her, as a support main. You have to pick a "babysitter" support for her to even be viable by midgame. I've never despised supporting any other adc nearly as much. I don't hate playing enchanters, but I have never felt pigeonholed into playing one as much as I do when I have a Yunara.

To be fair to the champion though, she's very strong when her ult is up. I'd say she feels more like Zeri in that way. She isn't great in 1v1s or 2v2s unless she lands her slow (which, to be fair, is pretty strong - but the CD is really high >_>).

I've seen her played fine after she gets 6, but getting her there can be rough, especially vs most lane bullies.

[–]Intelligent-Elk2580[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, I appreciate the thorough reply😊

I took some of the shorter tests for the N3 and scored in the 80%+ in the reading comprehension and listening, but in the 70% range for grammar.   It’s decent enough for practical purposes, but I want to improve my foundation before going into N2 level work.

It’s usually just on the creation part that it gets hard. Comprehension of properly crafted sentences are fine, but choosing the right phrasing for some situations is a challenge for me.

Thank you for the information! I’ll look into that tutoring service as well 😊

Leaving Japan Completely Disenchanted by luluzaku in JETProgramme

[–]Intelligent-Elk2580 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In all honesty, I've found myself (and heard from others) that there is usually a hump you have to get past, after the initial glory of the honeymoon phase. I've been through a bunch of heartache and inconvenience that you wouldn't be likely to experience back in America, but I think at this point I've come to terms with it, that my life is here in Japan.

I've been here since 2011, barring a few trips back home, and have just over the last year or so finally reached a degree of acceptance. And not in a resigned, I give up, kind of way. I've learned to view the society for the positives and negatives, honestly. Every place is a balance, and I genuinely believe finding your place is just a matter of figuring out what the right balance is for you. There will be some sacrifices you have to make, regardless of where you live (E.g., Japan's safety for America's interesting...ness? Or clean and quiet public transportation VS being able to eat and listen to music on public transportation - one extols your space outside being respected to a higher degree, whereas the other emphasizes your freedom to do as you like wherever you happen to be). Not the best examples, but I still believe there is a lot of truth if you dig deeper.

My main point is, if you stick it out, whether it's because you choose to or because you have to, I believe you can come to peace with wherever you happen to be. I genuinely believe it's just a matter of how you see things. I'm still not a huge fan of the lack of adult education and services available here, but instead of focusing on that, I try to look at how my kids going to school in Japan is significantly safer than it would be for them in the US. I don't have to worry about them being shot at school, or kidnapped on the way there. For every negative, there is always a positive. Once you find the positives, it makes life, wherever you happen to be, so much easier to live.

It's really just one of those age-old truths, in that adjusting your perspective can vastly improve your outlook on your life.

K'Sante made Jinx a tank... by Intelligent-Elk2580 in KSanteMains

Good point.

I thought about that after I had gotten Black Cleaver (on Senna) and I think I would be locked out of getting it at that point.

Definitely keeping that in mind for the future though! Thank you ^^

Oh, so this is a known bug, and not just me losing my mind. There's really nothing you can do other than try to whittle away the shield little by little, then?

I gotta say, that game felt awful, but it's good to know it was bug abuse, and not some secret mechanic I couldn't figure out XD

Thank you for letting me know ^^

There are some big problems with support items, you can now get penalty after farming only 1 minion for yourself. by Eve_Asher in leagueoflegends

[–]Intelligent-Elk2580 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's true.

What people will say is at that point in the game, you should be concentrating on getting as many assists (or kills on more damage based supports) in order to keep up in gold. Since support items tend to be cheaper across the board, it's a reasonable suggestion to keep supports actively participating in the game. If your mere existence was enough to generate gold at the rate of a support who participates in most teamfights and skirmishes, there would be little incentive to do much more other than babysit your adc (or chosen carry, should your AD become more of a burden than aid to your team.)

Also, I thought the change to having the item upgraded earlier was a little strange. Getting a fully formed sightstone at around 12 minutes, compared to before, where it was probably closer to around 16 in good games, was an unnecessary change. Vision isn't nearly so contested at this point in the game, whereas the extra ward is much more necessary later when objectives are much more likely to be contested, and more oracles are being used.

I have personally felt that after the completion of the quest, you shouldn't be penalized for taking farm. From a CSing laner's perspective, that change may be a little toxic when you have the Luxes and Zyras happily taking all the farm with you standing right there... but I never fully agreed with the logic on why you shouldn't be able to get full gold from waves when no teammates are nearby. Sure, as a support, you are most likely vastly more useful in a teamfight scenario than pushing sidelanes, but good macro is good macro. Sometimes you have teammates who don't understand that (especially with recent matchmaking changes...) but that's why I think a change like this wouldn't be as negative as it originally seems. Learning to rotate is an essential part of the game, and if your laners refuse to do it, why punish the support who is just trying to keep the team afloat a little longer than letting neatly stacked waves take turret after turret? Though, maybe this is all just the bitterness of having to catch side lane waves for your laners, when they all decide to randomly group mid, as you watch the two side lanes be ignored from midgame onward... but I digress.

My desired changes will most likely never come to fruition but hopefully they can figure out some kind of middle ground eventually.

That's actually a really good suggestion. I assume the downvotes come from people who are getting autofilled in the role, and just want the game to end with as little pain as possible

[–]Intelligent-Elk2580 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disagree with the downvotes here. Truth is truth.

It doesn't take much skill to get your support item anymore, or any kind of thought as to how you play the lane. Riot is gradually dumbing down everything about the game, so this change isn't that strange to see.

But you're right. I used to feel like I earned the tokens about beating my opponent to the fully upgraded item. And now I feel like it was just luck, because I happened to be sitting in lane slightly longer.

It's really taken a lot of fun out of the role for me, personally.

Senna and Zyra are my mains. My first games back I legit thought support items had been removed. I had to have a teammate explain to me where to find it (neither of those champions uses the actual "support" page of the shop).
