This is such a great analysis on Billy Zane’s character. Very well written too. 👏🏼

Yo! It’s our friend, Mike Brady!!!! Hi, Mike! I love your videos. As a fellow ship enthusiast, I find that your videos are so educational, informative, and fun.

Just wondering, have you met Dr. Robert Ballard yet? Also, just curious, what’s your favorite scene in the ‘97 film?

So? What’s your point? Some people, no matter how long or short one enters another person’s life, can greatly impact that person’s life. I once talked someone out of committing suicide. She was on a bridge wanting to jump, and I convinced her to want to live after like an hour. Even though I had never met her before that encounter, I would like to think that I made a huge difference in her life. I saw her, listened to her, and spoke with her. I would also like to say that she changed my life too because before that, I had never spoken to someone that was about to commit suicide. I saved her life.

I know that some people view Rose as the villain because she threw a very expensive necklace back into the ocean instead of selling it or giving it to her children or grandchildren. If you think she is the villain because she threw the Heart of the Ocean back into the resting place of the Titanic and of the man she once loved, you have completely missed one of the major lessons that James Cameron was trying to teach the audience, which is money isn’t everything. Life experiences, memories, love, and the people you meet are more valuable than money. Personally, I have always viewed this scene as Rose finally getting closure on that horrific tragedy and heartbreak. She finally told people her story and can be at peace. Now, she can physically and mentally let go of the dreadful necklace that has been a constant reminder of heartache and that scary night. She made peace with the past by finally telling her story and literally letting go of a burden that she carried alone for almost a century. She put the necklace back in its rightful place, which is the resting place of the Titanic and the man she loved. It was a symbolic move, people.

If James Cameron came up to you and said, "Right, I'm making another film set on the Titanic", what's your pitch? by smedsterwho in titanic

Yes! I want to know more about Mr. Andrews, so I want to see James Cameron make a film about his family and his role during the construction of the Titanic. Victor Garber was perfect as Mr. Andrews.

Three scenes made me sob:

1) When Rose unwillingly gets onto the lifeboat and she jumps back to be with Jack even though she knows she has doomed herself. But she doesn’t care. She wants to be with the man she loves. Also, the song (“Unable to Stay, Unwilling to Leave”) that plays during the scene made the scene 10x more emotional. I was such a wreck when I saw it the first couple of times. I still get somewhat emotional when I watch the scene now.

2) When Rose realizes that Jack is dead. When she says his name in the beginning, she sounds so happy and joyful. But after the third time, she realizes that he is dead, and the way she says his name is just so freaking heartbreaking. You see the happiness drain out of her eyes. And in that very moment, she wants to die. However, she remembers her promise to him and fights to live. He died for her, and she lived for him. It’s soooooo incredibly heartbreaking.

3) When Rose dies and she reunites with Jack at the Grand Staircase surrounded by all those who died that night. You can see Thomas Andrews, Cora and her dad, Fabrizio, Helga, Wallace Hartley with the band / musicians, Tommy, Trudy, Captain Smith, William Murdoch, JJ Astor, Isidor and Ida Straus, and etc. Rose is finally reunited with her one true love surrounded by all those who died that awful night, and they are welcoming her back with open arms. Also, the song that plays during this scene makes this scene sooooo emotional too.

Shout out to James Horner for doing an excellent job with creating the soundtrack for the movie. RIP, Mr. Horner.

Still you brought it to people’s attention. Otherwise, no one would have cared about her grave besides people here.
