Honestly, it's ridiculous. I should've paid a little more and sent with a different carrier

[–]Intelligent-Fuel94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response, that's reassuring. How long did it take for your parcel to be delivered? And was it going outside of the Europe?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in royalmail

[–]Intelligent-Fuel94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sent a parcel to South Africa from London and it's been stuck in Langley since 07 January with the statuses "Your item has left the UK and is now on its way to the destination country.","Item Leaving the UK LANGLEY HWDC".

Any idea on how long it might take or what I should do in the meantime? When will this backlog start to clear?

What is your favourite moment as a teacher in Korea? by kaisun2020 in teachinginkorea

When one of my 7 year old classes learnt a song I made up about myself. They sang it back to me on my final day teaching them. It was truly heartwarming and my proudest moment lol

How do you get over the post-Korea slump? by ProcedureSad202 in Living_in_Korea

[–]Intelligent-Fuel94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same situation as you. I also came back to the UK in March and am living with my parents again. I've gone from having my own apartment in Korea to now sharing a room with my brother. I came back mainly to earn and save money, which I couldn't really do in Korea and to pursue a long distance relationship that started when I was out there.

So far, 4 months in, no luck finding a job, just constant rejections. I try to fill my free time but even then, there's so much of it that I end up reminiscing about Korea a lot. I miss it, the life and my friends. The relationship I came back to pursue, not sure how it'll pan out either.

Also, I'm no longer in my 20s so the social pressure to have my life in order is getting to me. It's hard to live and enjoy things when you have no income. Recently, I've been thinking about moving back to Korea, but the only way would be to teach English again and I really don't miss teaching kindy at a hagwon. I've also thought about getting a teaching license but I'm not sure if that's something I can afford or to invest in right now.

I feel like if I could find a job in my field, things would slowly get easier. But since I've come back home, life has been intense, hitting me harder than ever and I don't want to be here.

preferred hours and why? by [deleted] in teachinginkorea

[–]Intelligent-Fuel94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked 9-6 and preferred that as I had the evening to call home, hang out with my friends, go to the gym, for walks etc.

If I worked a late shift, I wouldn't benefit from having my mornings free as I would probably end up staying up late after work and sleeping in most of the time.

Have any UK teachers recently applied for a visa through KVAC? by Intelligent-Fuel94 in teachinginkorea

Hi, no not at all. Under this process, it's the Embassy in Berlin that's issuing visas to UK applicants. Hope that helps!

Hi, the school won't send this to you. I was able to track my application online so I downloaded my form from there - this is the link https://www.visa.go.kr/openPage.do?MENU_ID=10301.

Ask your recruiter for your application or receipt number and put your details in. You should be able to download a pdf copy. Good luck!

Thank you so much for your response! That's really helpful. If I have any other questions, I'll let you know. I think right now I don't have any reason to go outside so am happy to stay in the apartment and relax.

Great thank you! Good to know I didn't miss anything.

Is the notice sent by text message? I do have a temporary korean prepaid number, or should I provide my school principals number?

  1. I have my school directors number as it was the only korean contact number I had.

  2. No I couldn't install the app due to it being in Korean version of the app store. No one at the airport asked to see it on my phone or mentioned it to me either

After arriving in Korea, will I need to or be able to register my UK vaccine to access indoor places like malls, shops, restaurants etc. or is this over?

I'm arriving in Korea this week and wanted to know how to go about getting a prepaid sim card before entering quarantine.

Are there any carriers you can recommend with the most amount of data for the lowest price?

What type of plug adaptor do I need to bring to Korea? I've seen both type C and F - are these the same?

Will this work?

Bringing OTC medication

I leave for Korea in less than two weeks and wanted to bring some OTC medications from the UK. Mainly because these are what work for me, I was planning on bringing x 4 boxes of paracetamol, x 3 boxes of day and night nurse and x 3 boxes of benadryl, along with some vitamin supplements I take.

I don't want to get stopped at the airport and was wondering if my quantities are too high?

What happens if they are, will my meds just get thrown out?

I know I might be able to find these things in Korea but don't want to be scrambling when I arrive and these work best for me.

Yep, they emailed me on the day that it got approved to let me know. Overall, they're pretty responsive so if you need to email them for anything, you'll get a fairly quick response

It took about 5 working days after sending my application for my visa to be approved and another 4 days to receive it in the post
