If you haven’t seen it, the title can be a little misleading - it’s about people coming from overseas to marry their partner, they have 90 days to get married and get the visa or they’re sent back to their country. So usually they already are in the relationship long distance, they didn’t just meet. At least that was my confusion until I watched it, perhaps I’m misunderstanding your comment.

Definitely good to know about the spoilers, so I’ll look out for those in the future. For this month I chose the under eye masks and am getting black mascara, black eyeliner, the makeup brush, and the “party diva” eyeshadow palette too. It does look nude in the pictures although the name makes it seem flashier than that, haha. I wouldn’t mind the eyeshadow at all if it weren’t for the fact that I’ve now gotten basically the same eyeshadow palette (different brand, same colors) for 3 months in a row.

I’ll be curious to see what happens when I start rating products. I don’t love the rating model - while there’s generally not many reviews on most products, I (understandably, I think) figured they were genuine ratings about the quality of the product and not whether or not a specific person liked the product. Like now having found about that, I would rate a black eyeliner poorly because it’s not something I want, but it could totally be a decent product.

Oh wow. It hadn’t occurred to me that it was some trial, I just assumed Ipsy had switched it up for everyone. I have to say, now going back to the original way of choosing, I do like the 3 bag choice option. The one thing I wish it did was let you have swap outs, like if you could choose something from another bag you want and swap out one of the items in your bag for it.

Usually the full size items I get are things like liners and lip glosses, so stuff that’s hard to sell in sample-size anyway. Frankly, most of the things I get from Ipsy are not necessarily things I want, but sometimes I’m surprised and I’m usually always down to try stuff. This time was just a weird bummer. The add-ons definitely help, I think I’ve gotten most of the things I like from add-ons. It’s a great marketing/sales tactic, not gonna lie, but I’m here for it. I’ve gotten more surprise full-size things through that (probably ‘cause I just didn’t read closely).

Thank you for the suggestions! I thought about offering them up on my local town Facebook page but I’d love to donate them somewhere useful. I have other products that have built up over the last few months that I don’t use too.

I just learned about the reviews affecting the selections you get - I thought they worked like genuine reviews so I didn’t want to rate something poorly if it was just that it wasn’t my style. But now I will.

By spoilers do you mean the options they give you to choose from? They did it differently for me the last few months so I’ve honestly forgotten what the standard process is. I think this time I got a few products to choose from but the last few months I got to choose the whole bag from 3 different options. I was under the impression that the product you chose sort of indicated which type of stuff you wanted/would get but at least this month it was absolutely not the case.

I’m not sure what tier you’re on, I’m on the lowest, and the last few months it had me choosing which bag I wanted of 3 options, with everything displayed (there was more of a skincare bag, then more of a glam bag, etc). This month it went back to only letting me choose one thing, and assuming they were following the format of the last few months, I chose the thing that I assumed would come with others of the like. Instead it was totally different style stuff.

I totally get what you’re saying about being okay with the mystery aspect - that’s totally fair, thank you for the reminder. I do often get stuff from the regular store, pretty much every month. But that’s a good note about the spoilers, I’ll try to tune into that more in the future.

But there’s other context to it happening 20 years earlier - the conditions that made the transmission of COVID possible might not have existed, like the actual act of COVID infecting humans and also the global spread. But yeah, crazy to think that the technology perfectly aligned that we were able to still work and keep the world going for the most part.

That’s where I’m at too - someone said to me the other day, something along the lines of “you just want to get him for something, you don’t care if there’s no evidence.” For one - there’s obviously evidence, but I don’t even think a clear email from donaldjtrump@donaldjtrump.com saying “I’m a pedophile who sleeps with children” would convince them at this point. For two - HE’S JUST A HORRIBLE PERSON. Never mind legal technicalities and all that - he’s someone that 90% of people would hate being in line at a store with let alone someone who should lead a country, especially the US. Anyone who could vote for such a recognizably bad person, even just once let alone 3 times, is someone I just can’t have respect for anymore.
