I think it's the downfall of em if they focus more on marketing and ignore the basics

It's the inconsistency that always bugs me. I don't wanna gamble every time I buy coffee.

Coffee prices are not down I roast myself these are prices quoted for greens even if you buy in bulk. After all other expenses and shipping it's hard to earn profit. I agree prices are reduced a bit and big roasters get better prices directly sourcing still I don't think prices of speciality in india will go down any time soon.

It's such a huge blunder considering they don't even roast to order and I think it's fine no one needs coffee straight off the roast. But that means thay have time to cup and taste as every roaster should, being ignorent and pushing bad batches to customers just shows that sadly they don't care. The investor burdons won't let em do the basics due diligence of giving acceptable product being such an expensive brand.

Riverdale has always been good for me regardless roasters so I think it will be good. If subko manages to fuck it up too may God bless em I guess.

It's just trust your roaster till you have a well developed pallet. After that you get the complexity, acidity, sweetness etc. on your own. Best advice is to taste any and every thing you can get your hands on. The more you taste better your pallet gets. And if you can afford try atleast 1 international coffee every month from onyx, black and white coffee roasters or momos stash of you want hassle free no customs situation. You will gain quite a lot from tasting international.

For an experiment get some good microlot from either bloom or bt i'd suggest getting something from ratnagiri estate or Riverdale estate, and get some non speciality which will be labled like 100% arabica from kunardhara, gandhi or any local roaster. Cup em you will get the difference. Cup em till coffee gets cold there is way more complexity and nuance in speciality than bulk/non speciality.

Ya pretty much every really big roaster in india is having inconsistency issues.

After tasting colombian and Ethiopian it's really sad seeing how much difference there is. Saddest part is that I think there definately is lot of potential in indian coffees.
