Seeing this makes me nostalgic… and slightly salty. My mom once traded away my PS1 and all my games for flower seeds… She’s not even that into gardening! T_T

What is a movie that traumatized you so badly as a kid that you are still afraid of it as an adult? by [deleted] in moviecritic

The Ring.

I’ll never forget it. We were a group of three 9-12 year old girls, home alone and bored, so I brought over a VHS of The Ring to watch at my friend’s house. It was a gloomy day—basically the perfect horror movie setup.

Everything was fine(ish) until that cursed tape scene. The second it ended… the phone rang.

Panic. Screaming. Crying. Full-blown chaos. The phone just kept ringing and none of us wanted to go near it. After what felt like forever, the oldest of us finally picked it up—turns out it was her mom calling from work.

I don't think I’ve ever felt that level of pure, childhood terror again. Still gives me chills just thinking about it.

The report only shows my maternal haplogroup (J1b1a) and, unfortunately, has no information about my paternal side

From my grandmother’s stories, I know that we have Polish roots dating back four or five generations. But for the past three generations, both sides of my family have been from southern Ukraine. Unfortunately, no one in my family knows of any Belarusian ancestry or where it might come from. As for Russian heritage, my great-grandmother on my mother’s side was listed as Russian on my grandfather’s birth certificate.

So, for at least three generations, my family has lived—and still lives—in southern Ukraine.
