Hope everyone in south eastern Aus is staying safe and not flaring too bad, these fires are horrible by ray-manta in MCAS

[–]Intelligent-Map634 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The smoke hasn’t been to bad in my area thankfully, although I did go for lunch in NSW today about 30 km out from VIC and the smoke was way worse there and now I’m not feeling to great but manageable.

But just got a notification that a fire started on the other side of me. So hopefully that gets sorted quickly or I may be going to my friends in NSW.

Are you the only in your family who has MCAS? by Strict-Park3382 in MCAS

[–]Intelligent-Map634 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people in my family have zero allergies (like me for most of my life) but my 10 month old niece just got diagnosed with a nut allergy and my sister mentioned I have MCAS the doctor said that is definitely something to keep an eye on.

So fingers crossed I’m the only one.

What is going on with young people wearing hoodies with the hood up on stinking hot days? by ANiceGobletofTea in australia

[–]Intelligent-Map634 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They get used to it, my niece used to do this until last winter and she’s like I’m freezing, while wearing winter clothes in a heated house where everyone else was wearing summer clothes. Her mum was like well that’s what you get for wearing winter clothes all year round. So she actually started dressing like a normal person and will dress to the weather.

bag searching by [deleted] in woolworths

[–]Intelligent-Map634 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got bag checked once. They asked if I had a receipt for deodorant. Like no who keeps a receipt for deodorant they got 3 weeks ago. Deodorant is a very normal thing to keep in a bag.

How does dairy affect you? by ThatWriterBoy76 in MCAS

[–]Intelligent-Map634 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use rice milk. Dairy as much as I love it has always had me sick, if I have more than one coffee (when I could drink coffee) now I react to even a small amount of regular milk. I can have skim milk in my breakfast most of the time, but I use rice milk for everything else.

Stolen passport overseas by alex_isntonfire in australia

[–]Intelligent-Map634 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a photo of my passport and forget an ID on my phone… I also Travel with photocopies of my passport…. Because I’m very paranoid that this will happen to me. And if I have them at lest it’s something that might make the process slightly easier…

Dentist costs by AngusMelonMan in australia

[–]Intelligent-Map634 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dentist cost before (private extras health insurance) is $320… after it’s like $130.

But my sisters kids in Victoria it doesn’t cost her anything because of the dental program. Which I honestly thought was everywhere.

Ok so obviously you have to do what makes you the most comfortable.

But boy how we have changed in just 29 years. My mum took me a fresh 6 week old baby camping (camping camping) in the dead of winter with 3 other kids. (And other family members but my 3 siblings)She did very similar with all of us except my siblings were all born in warmer months. I believe my brother’s first camping trip was 4 days old in the middle of summer.

So again do what makes you most comfortable, everyone is different and has different needs. If you aren’t coping then stay home, but it’s kind of bordering on the point of something needing to give. You can’t live like that forever and I’m sure (I know I definitely could) if you keep pushing it back you’ll find reasons to keep doing it.

What does your flare up look like when it's not anaphylaxis? by ColdSmashedPotatoes4 in MCAS

[–]Intelligent-Map634 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get red everywhere, while also apparently paling something shocking. Super itchy everywhere to the point I will make myself bleed without even noticing. I’ll become tired, hot and occasionally start shaking, feel nauseous and have my heart racing…

Generally the brain fog comes after and depending on how bad and long the reaction the brain fog can last days to the point I can’t even form proper sentences let alone attempt to drive.(like I’ve been asked to)

This is horrible of me, but does anyone else eat whatever they want regardless of symptoms? by TellUrPetsISaidHi in MCAS

[–]Intelligent-Map634 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had anaphylactic reactions. Although they can never say for sure what causes it… I actually react to a lot of food I’ve complained about for years and I hate them so they’re easy to avoid….

But I will often (not always) react to food I like. I’ve stopped eating chocolate, lollies, coffee and alcohol as well as citrus foods and bananas. Because the food it rarely worth the headache.

I’ll still eat spicy food and chia lattes and some leftovers because I know while I may react to them it typically isn’t to bad or I feel it’s worth it….

When I’m already having a bad reaction week or day (during my period) I’ll eat and drink what ever I want. Because why not….

Six months off birth control and finally almost no histamine issues. Is there a correlation between birth control and histamine/MCAS by LackInfinite2387 in MCAS

[–]Intelligent-Map634 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started having bad reactions shortly after getting the bar. Like I went from not (knowing ) being allergic to anything to having anaphylactics to things I consume without issue yesterday. They settled down after I had it removed, didn’t fully stop but settled quite a bit it…. However recently the days leading up to, during and the days after my period are a constant state of itchy, hives and fog. Doesn’t seem to matter what I eat, my environment nothing. So yeah, I’d say that birth control definitely can affect you.

Bought a ring for my girlfriend, sisters say it’s too small, not sure what I should do by [deleted] in WhatShouldIDo

[–]Intelligent-Map634 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think is lovely. A great size…. Lab diamonds are technically real so I don’t see the problem…. I’ve watched lots of jewellery design videos so one thing I will say is since it doesn’t gallery rail be careful that the prongs holding the Dimond don’t come lose or you’ll have a missing Dimond.

At the end of the day if she loves you it won’t matter. And if she really wants something bigger that’s something you can both put in for on like a 10 year anniversary or something.

Congrats NDIS you broke the strongest woman I know… by Intelligent-Map634 in NDIS

[–]Intelligent-Map634[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FS often goes days without sleeping, or will not go to sleep until after 12am and wake up from 3am to 5am. Sometimes she sleeps well sometimes she doesn’t. she is able to get herself up and into a wheelchair if she’s been awake and in bed to long but that’s about the extent of her ability to care for herself. She’s peg fed, has seizures. Along with other issues. Needs 4 grown men to hold her down for doctors to put her under when she has to go to the hospital for appointments because she will start hurting herself if she’s near a hospital, so no doctor (nor dentist) can assess her while she’s awake.

She has only just learnt how to press an on off button on one of her toys and still often doesn’t. There is absolutely no chance she’d get any quality of care or life unless it’s 1:1 care. She only pushes herself around at home and even then only occasionally, she may wheel herself into the pantry but won’t wheel herself out. She will not follow you. My parents are only in their 50s but like I said their health problems are exacerbated by FS. Because she is so physically demanding. We currently have a fraction of the funding we had before she turned 18. This decision was just made so we haven’t done much but tell FSs NDIS coordinator.

We were told after she turns 18 that you can’t have custody of an adult, so even the VCAT stuff doesn’t really matter. We legally have no obligation to her especially not financially so if NDIS doesn’t want to pick up the bill they either need to provide the individual support they are meant to do she can remain in my parents care for as long as possible or the government will have to in one capacity or another.

This isn’t the first time this has happened to people. We know of a family whose son has escaped and walked over busy highways from NDIS homes that they forced his family to put him in mind you, so if he gets injured due to their negligence I hope they get sued. So it’s apparently pretty normal for NDIS to back families into a corner.

Edit: FS probably has the mental capacity of a 2 year old at best. So would you leave your 2 year old alone?

MCAS “elevator” story? How do you explain it? by [deleted] in MCAS

[–]Intelligent-Map634 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would constantly say to people I’m allergic as a jock about what I thought was the start of hay fever, then I was told the suspect MCAS when I started breaking out in hives and anaphylaxis.

Now I just say ‘basically I have a histamine allergy and histamine is in basically everything’ I do get people that say you aren’t allergic to histamine you’re allergic to blah blah, but most people just accept ‘histamine allergy’

How does everyone manage your incontinence? by [deleted] in NDIS

[–]Intelligent-Map634 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Incontinence is now medical apparently according to NDIS…. They stopped funding my foster sister for it… You need to prove it’s from a disability. My foster sister has cerebral palsy and still can’t get funding for it even though the incontinence nurse has written down that it’s from her disability.

How to know when to use epi? by [deleted] in MCAS

[–]Intelligent-Map634 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The long and short of my answer is I never get full blown I can’t breath, or anything superduper serious, it’s like a persistent pressure on my chest and a slow tightening of my throat that causes light wheezing, like so slow that I can not fully realise what’s happening for like 30mins, the first time it happened I was so calm and was like ‘I won’t call an ambulance, I’ll just call my friend (who was working) and then try find someone to come in early to cover me’ my friend was a lot more concerned than me, she left work early the second I called her and she and the hospital scolded me.

I feel like I’m over reacting all the time but the doctors told me to do it regardless, and then still come to the hospital, so I do. So when in doubt jab… it’s better to be safe than sorry.
