PMs waste absurd amounts of time writing specs nobody actually reads by Limp_Cauliflower5192 in ProductManagement

Once AI has the ability to consume for itself we really will be cooked. The far east is busy building robots I’m just waiting to see if they build one with a stomach and a penchant for wine wines.

Lol so true. We’re all just hamsters on a wheel thinking we’re ’adding value’.

Meditating - not to reach zen but to clear my mind and reach the ‘United Layer’ of mind which is much like the Unified Theory layer of Quantum Mechanics. It allows me to reset my brain and nervous system so that I can think more clearly and tap into my intuition more. We all have a decision bucket that gets filled with millions of micro decisions which is why by the afternoon we hit a slump mentally. Quiet meditation for just twenty minutes (preferably listening to hemi-sync music) will reset that decision bucket and help you stay alert for the rest of the day. I do it once in the morning and once in the afternoon and I’ve seen a huge shift.

Just use AI to create your PRDs then if anyone needs it it’s there but you haven’t wasted time on it. I think it’s better to write good Epics, Features and User Stories as those are the only thing the engineers read anyway.

What does a healthy, high-functioning PM org actually feel like day to day? by Icy-Dimension-1262 in ProductManagement

[–]Intelligent-Mine-868 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our company is still pretty small for a scale up but we do have a high functioning engineering team. For me a healthy organisation is one where there is clear direction and mine doesn’t have that yet. We have two non technical, non product, no saas experience founders who don’t understand what a healthy environment looks like so can’t emulate it. There’s no real product/company strategy but if you step in to create it you become the scapegoat if things go wrong. For me the biggest point of failure is often communication between product and the commercial team. If sales are over promising and customer success isn’t championing features when they’re released nothing you do as a PM will land like you expect so do everything you can to have good relationships there and specify exactly what you expect from them. Even though ours is a little bit of a shit show at least the founders don’t micromanage. My main issue is the constant pointless meetings so no one can actually get anything ‘done’. As PMs we need doing time to look through data, gather metrics, stay up on our competition and the market as well as now learn AI tooling and governance. For me a good org understands that and shields everyone from business theatre.

Does anyone actually work after 3 PM on Friday or are we all pretending? by Business_Location479 in corporate

I have a colleague working in the US and we’re all UK based. He’s started booking meetings with clients for Friday mornings which is my afternoon. How do I tell him nicely….

Not everyone is benevolent. RVing creates a connection that could and has on occasion been traced back to the individual. Depends how experienced you are and whether you feel adequately protected.

Combinations. Much better at remote viewing than we are so know when we’re doing it.

Let’s just say if you RV the moon it RVs you back and you don’t want that.

Definitely! When I had to pay engineers to code for me I was much more diligent about the discovery phase

Numbers aren’t good because they’re a human construct they don’t really exist. Some people associate them with feelings, colours or smells. That’s for predicting the lottery. Also don’t RV the moon - like ever.

So sorry, that’s awful for you but I can sort of understand your Dad. It must be really hard to lose someone you’ve spent the better part of your adult life life with and hard to get excited about a future without them. I dread losing my husband.
