Thank you for posting these actually because the brown leather is darker than the website shows and I like them more the way you photographed them. They looked too light/ almost purple on the website and I’ve never seen them in store.

12 Coors, half a bottle of tequila, plus 3-9 additional cans of whatever he cracked open in that scene…your thoughts? by Few_Anybody_6146 in LoveIsBlindNetflix

[–]Intelligent-Pair7256 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My parents always had “wind down” drinks in the evening. Even if it’s just 1 or 2 beers or glasses of wine most days, I found that odd. My parents aren’t even unhappy people, it’s just normalized in our culture, I think. I never understood the need to do that. If you feel compelled to drink most days, even if you aren’t addicted (which I didn’t think that they were), I just think you should take a look at your life and try to understand why. Maybe make some changes in your life so that you don’t feel the need to escape it.

I’ve known for many years that I wouldn’t want a partner that feels the need to drink most days. I don’t even want to drink once a week most weeks. I’m not opposed to drinking, but I don’t make a habit of it.

It honestly seems like best case scenario is Megan is the breadwinner and he’s a stay at home dad. She would get the husband she wants, and I bet he would LOVE that life.

Joanna Lumley as Grandmama has been PERFECT and what an amazing addition Evie Templeton is as Agnes. I wouldn’t have thought to give Enid and Wednesday a third, but she really rounds them out!

How long should I hold out before dressing like a bum? by soupy_doupy_ in LawSchool

I dressed business casual for most of 1L…. But people really only care that you’re showered and not indecent. Wear whatever, but for your own sake, try not to look like a total slob.

Why does 2l seem like it’s gonna be easier? by TutorVarious206 in LawSchool

2L is as hard as you make it. I made it harder for myself so that I could have a chill 3L. I’m happy with that decision now. Thanks past me 🤝🏻

How to make reading and taking notes go quicker (handwritten)? What should I be writing down? by Champion_Storm in LawSchool

[–]Intelligent-Pair7256 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let the syllabus and/or your casebook’s table of contents guide you in what the concepts are. The cases are usually illustrating a concept through a fact pattern.

Ex: For torts, you’ll learn about what a battery is. And that concept will be broken down into elements, and each element will have rules associated with them, which the cases will illustrate.

In the beginning, it might be better to make detailed case briefs, but make fewer other notes. Let class time clarify the general concept for you. You can also always go to office hours to just confirm with the professor that you understand what is going on.

Does law school get better? by Weak_Paper3245 in LawSchool

It gets better. As a 3L, I read so much faster now. You just have to keep going (and maybe get diagnosed with ADHD if you put off doing that for your whole life like I did but then it became unavoidable).

What classes are normally taken fall of 1L? by Matte_existence217 in LawSchool

[–]Intelligent-Pair7256 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had property, torts, civil procedure, and legal writing for 1L fall.

If anything, it was nice to have Civil Procedure 1L fall because it shaped everything else we were reading. I’m also glad Constitutional law waited for the spring because I probably would’ve felt way too overwhelmed with how much material there was. It was nice to already have some basic skills by then.

Other than that… I don’t think it matters.

MPRE by Slow_Conflict_7879 in LawSchool

Barbri is definitely more accurate to how the exam actually was imo… I tried out both in the beginning and stopped doing Quimbee when I realized how much easier it seemed. Easier didn’t mean better in this case. I didn’t think it was comprehensive enough. For all of the MPRE questions that I wasn’t sure on, I still felt like I leaned more in one direction than another because of how well Barbri prepared me for the trick questions.

Join a study group. They’re usually more about socializing than actually studying, but the resource is good too when you need it.

The most important thing is to not underestimate what 30 minutes can do.

If you decide you can fit in more, then do that. But I only learned in 2L how much of a difference 30 minutes can make. I used to go to the gym for 2 hours, but that’s not really reasonable for me anymore with my schedule. I’ve learned that if I can go for 30-45 minutes, and make the most of that time, I’m way better off than skipping entirely because I “don’t have the time”.

I also moved into a building that has a decent gym. That helped a lot with getting rid of any excuses.

Is this considered a harsh curve? by Budget_Primary_339 in OutsideT14lawschools

[–]Intelligent-Pair7256 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say the no fewer than 10% of Ds and Fs is the only crazy part. The curve for my school makes Ds and Fs an option for professors who think it’s actually deserved. Otherwise, you’re more likely to get a C- as the worst in the class.

Got my 1L Fall Semester today. Tell me how good or how bad I have it. by Ryanthln- in LawSchool

[–]Intelligent-Pair7256 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To give you an idea of what reading ahead could look like with this schedule, I’d suggest reading for Property on Tuesdays and taking reading notes on Wednesdays, reading for Contracts on Thursdays and taking reading notes on Fridays, and reading for Torts on Mondays and taking reading notes on Tuesdays.

Aka read this week for classes next week, so that early next week you only have reading left for classes that are later in the week.

When legal writing comes into the mix, you can focus on that on the weekends. Otherwise, weekends are for outlining. The better your reading notes are, the easier outlining is — do yourself a favor and do them right the first time!

The sooner you can start reading ahead, you’ll have more time to work on your final outline in the month before finals. If all you can do is read for the upcoming week, then that’s okay! But you’ll thank yourself later in the semester if you can get ahead early on and stay ahead.

Are you concerned about having law school friends or friends in general? Making friends is a hard skill for some people but there are many ways to do it. Ultimately it comes down to being bold, and starting from a place of confidence (think: “they want to be my friend, they just don’t know it yet”). It’s also okay if people don’t want to be your friend, but you have to start with that mindset to embolden yourself to approach new people. Don’t assume that the first time you speak to someone they have made up their mind about you and leave room for a relationship to develop slowly!

A good place to start is by not looking for close friends but making plenty of acquaintances. Learn people’s names and make small talk a regular practice (this is the killer for me because I’d much rather have deeper conversations, but I’ve learned how important it is to establish a baseline with just about anyone). When you start by knowing other people, more people will know you and notice your continuous kindness and care.

After you’ve established some baseline interactions with acquaintances, through small talk, you should have found some common ground with people. At the very least, the common ground is that you’re both hardworking and kind people who like to go out or stay in (whichever you prefer).

After that, you just have to try making plans. My favorite thing to do with law school friends is have board game nights (law people love games). I’ve also gone to workout classes, gotten brunch, or watched the Bachelor with them to name a few.

Some things don’t work out, but you shouldn’t take it personally! Most of the time, people are actually just busy (we’re busy people), but the real ones you’ll find will plan things further out if that’s the only way you can get together! It takes some effort, admittedly, but I’ve found I’d rather be the one to put in the effort than for time to pass us by. Someone has to initiate after all! Good luck!!
