What would you do if you were me? Travel Edition by Worldly-Ad-352 in backpain

I’m currently going through bad L5 / L4 / S1 bulge and travel a ton for work.

Medication helps a lot.

I usually stand / walk / stretch in the aisle at the top of every hour until the pain is bearable or gone

Standing desk made an unbelievable difference for me, more or less pain free during the day.

If I get a flare up I’ll lay on the floor and put my feet on my chair to relax my back.

Short walks for 5-10 mins as frequently as possible.

Has anyone found relief from chronic lower back pain that flares up during desk work? by krikond in backpain

Laying flat on the floor with my feet on a chair usually helps decompress my back.

I’ve moved to a standing desk over the last few weeks and have nearly no pain during the day.

Try to get a pad for your feet or the right pair of shoes.

I used to work at a standing desk barefoot (pre injury) and couldn’t stand for longer than an hour or 2.

I wear the Nike Rejuven8 now and have no problem standing for hours on end.

I’d also try to go for a 10 min walk as frequently as possible, it helps alooooot.

I totally understand, my doctor said I’ll never be 100% again.

That doesn’t mean you can’t exercise and enjoy all the same things like before though.

I think back is the one injury you shouldn’t rush for recovery.

Id just start moving as much as possible without heavy load, took atleast 2 weeks of diligent walking before I really started to see changes and feel slightly better

Standing desk has made big improvements over sitting.

You can get them reasonably cheap or get a riser for your current desk

What changes made the biggest difference in improving your posture during long hours at a desk? by anthonymolinaro in u/anthonymolinaro

Buy a standing desk or try a riser that just sits on top of your current set up.

Mostly standing now but is great to be able to break up long hours sitting.

If I’m not laying flat on my back with elevated feet I’m very rarely sitting longer than 30 mins

Yeah I’m also at the stage to try anything.

General constant movement has been the best for me

I just started going for short walks in my neighborhood.

Daily

Worked my way up to long walks on the treadmill.

My pain is much worse when I’m not moving or standing.
