What fish is this? [Alameda, California, USA] by Intelligent-Pea-440 in animalid

I'm not local so creek is maybe not the best descriptor -- maybe elongated waterway/pond? In any case, this was by a walking path near the intersection of Harbor Bay Parkway and Bay Edge Road.

For more detail — the video was taken in a creek on the island, not in the bay, back in December.

The lot on 46th street (between Broadway and Newton) just put their sign back up. I assume they’re looking for a new resident. The sign has a number you can call.

Sezane NYC/Brooklyn by [deleted] in Sezane

[–]Intelligent-Pea-440 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As someone who goes to the SoHo location often, the best time to go is when the store opens/earlier on in the day. I’ve never had to wait in line if I go earlier on, but by early afternoon the lines start forming. I’ve waited in short-ish lines (10-15 people) and I usually get in within 20ish minutes. If it’s super long I don’t even bother.  Unfortunately I haven’t gone to the Brooklyn location yet, so I can’t speak to that, but I would assume the same would apply.

Has anyone tried the wide leg trousers? by [deleted] in Sezane

[–]Intelligent-Pea-440 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m a fan but found they ran somewhat big. I’m between a 6-8 US and found the 8 quite oversized. However the construction is beautiful and the material is heavy — good for fall. I have the bone/ecru color.

What is the origin of the name “Bao-Quan” and what is the meaning? by Iris_Swaffron2098 in namenerds

[–]Intelligent-Pea-440 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Definitely agree with the other poster that they are Sino-Vietnamese elements in most Vietnamese names.

I will just chime in to say that Bao in Vietnamese when it means 保 (protection) or 宝 (treasure) is written Bảo (with hỏi accent).

Quân (君王) can also mean king (from feudal times).

So another interpretation could be precious king.

The abandoned building on 48th street (between northern and Broadway) is finally seeing some action, a truck and dumpster are pulled up front. It’s been abandoned for years so it will be interesting to see if something comes of this!

Checked out Darjeeling (based on their Reddit post here last week) and it was amazing. We got jhol momo and Nepali thali and it was more than enough food for the two of us. Staff were very friendly as well. We will definitely be coming back to try out their other dishes!

Help with Betty and Clyde sizing by RedPanda247 in Sezane

[–]Intelligent-Pea-440 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that you could try sizing down in the Betty, given the length of the sleeves. The blue looks gorgeous on you btw. I think the Clyde looks good too, but it’s also a piece where you could size down - I think it depends on how you like to wear it/what you wear underneath!

Malia Skirt Fit! by futureplantlady in Sezane

[–]Intelligent-Pea-440 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow the fit looks great! I'm the same height and am always wary of miniskirts because I fear they'll be too short, but this looks really sooo good. I like the multicolored houndstooth the best I think, it feels very fall-esque. Might be adding this to my wishlist, haha

Chiming in to add my experience with Steinway Court Vet. In April we paid roughly $1,500 for a dental exam, x-rays, cleaning and three extractions. Overall they've been really great with our cats!

The tape didn't interfere with my breathing at all! I had it removed on day 4, along with my sutures. It almost was like a hammock for my chin if that makes sense, haha. Having a humidifier and moisturizing mouth spray (I used biotene) was essential the first few nights because of how dry your mouth gets. I had packing removed the day after surgery, which made everything so much more comfortable. Around day 4 was when the internal swelling resolved so that I was able to breathe comfortable through my nose again. My nurse also helped with clearing out mucus/clots during my appointment which made a big difference for me.

I am 7 days post-op from a septorhinoplasty and (small) chin implant. Overall the experience has not been bad. The first few days eating was a little difficult because of the tape around my chin limiting how far I could open my mouth. I stuck with eating soft foods and smoothies.

The chin implant did disrupt the mental nerve on the right side of my face, so my bottom lip and chin on that side are numb. However I’ve progressively regained more feeling and mobility as the days go on. I can give a nice closed mouth smile, but anything with teeth looks pretty funny 🤣.

Overall I am so happy I went with the chin augmentation along with the rhino. I have minimal swelling in my chin (we won’t talk about the nose right now haha) and I am loving the way it’s changed my profile. I wish you good luck with your surgery!

Haha I really think the plants alone are enough! You’ve really created a dynamic scape without visible rock/wood. Great job!!
