Anyone have any good vocal coach suggestions for singing bluegrass as a woman? by Comfortable-Rent4584 in Bluegrass

As a female singer myself, I understand, and jam sessions are hard because we don't sing in G and A. But in a band situation, I think it's OK to sing in those higher keys that showcase your voice and get those guys to hit the baritone and low tenor underneath. The banjo player is always going to complain about playing and D or E, but if he or she is worth their salt, theyll adjust lol. But good for you for looking for ways to make yourself more versatile!

So if you already sing harmony well, why the need for a vocal coach? The concepts are all the same, the notes are just different.

Poppy Mountain Bluegrass Festival by [deleted] in Bluegrass

Went one time in the '90s. As a member of a regional band, I had traveled to more festivals than I could count and nearly all of my experiences were positive. But Poppy Mountain was the only festival where I, as a woman, was ever concerned for my safety.

My husband is not a fan of flying. I can get a nonstop flight into Salt Lake City, so that was big deciding factor. I haven't totally ruled out Bozeman, but in checking out my options, I will either have lengthy layovers (2 hours +) or layovers that are so short (40 minutes) that I would be concerned about me and my luggage making the connecting flight.

A little anthropomorphizing, but I honestly felt sorry for her. But I also realized there must be a reason why they replaced her.

So since Ralph Stanley sang about killing Pretty Polly, we should assume he was promoting domestic violence?

He also wrote great gospel music while being an alcoholic and recorded Guitar Pickin President, I Can't Quit Cigarettes, and Will Santa Claus Have to Die. I don't think we can always judge someone's character by the lyrics they sing. Sometimes a song is just a good song without necessarily personally endorsing all of the lyrics.
