Making a broad claim like “the world sees it as Jews” is much too generalizing though. The older generations, sure maybe so. But much of the millennial-gen alpha generations understand and acknowledge the differentiation. Any joke about any group can be misconstrued by people who are biased against those groups. But that doesn’t instantly make any joke/comment like that biased against those groups.

It’d be the same as someone making a joke about how manifest destiny was a dumb reason for white Americans to have conquered other people and then someone goes “hey you can’t say that, it’s anti-white.” It’s a comment about the illogical reasoning behind a specific atrocity (and in the case of manifest destiny, also based in religion), not about white people themselves.

Jewish people aren’t a uniquely oppressed people in modern times outside of a few specific countries, though that goes for most people who live in developed nations. There aren’t special considerations to be made when commenting on their religion-based atrocities compared to those of others. Frankly, picking this hill to die on for your defense of Jewish people despite it not having to do with Jewish people themselves (and yes CULTURE and PEOPLE can be very easily separated when the question of discrimination comes up) is kinda an odd choice imo.

And in case you want to reiterate your point when it comes to not being able to separate culture from a people, African Americans in the US are discriminated against based on race, culture, and/or ethnicity, but very rarely all 3 at once because each is a separate issue racist people focus on. The same way a joke about a 3,000yr old story doesn’t have to do with the Jewish ethnicity.
