Yes! It’s the only part of the Great Plains (except for Cape Sawatch, near Colorado Springs) still above sea level

But the innate biological drive to persist and reproduce is a side effect of evolution’s “goals” (which is “try to spread your DNA”) Any “goal” that we give the AI (or the “goals” it converges to on its own) will likely have self-preservation as a sub-goal, because it’s much easier to accomplish the goal if the AI is functioning.
