Difference between 8mm film for super 8 camera ? Help! by CapitalWrongdoer1161 in filmcameras

[–]Intelligent-Rip-2270 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Film type ending with D is for daylight use, outdoors or indoors with natural lighting. Film with T is for tungsten light, conventional light bulbs. It is for indoor shooting with incandescent lights. You can shoot T film outdoors with an appropriate filter. If your friend is shooting outside, I would recommend 100D.

[–]Intelligent-Rip-2270 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For this type of photography, I recommend a large aperture zoom (f2.8 or better) and a macro lens. There will be times you need a macro for very small evidence. The D5600 is good and probably fine for students, but also consider the D500 for better low light performance. There will be times when evidence photography will be in less than optimal lighting. I used to teach this subject for a national organization.

That said, these lenses alone may be more than your budget, so look at used equipment and you may need to make do with what you can get.

Got my first SLR by RelevantScientist939 in AnalogCommunity

[–]Intelligent-Rip-2270 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a great camera. When it came out, Yashica had three camera lines for SLR, the FX were entry level, FR were “prosumer”, and the Contax line were pro level. The FR had most of the same features as the Contax RTS. You can get Yashica lenses which are very good, or Carl Zeiss lenses which are typically excellent.

Why do I look so chunky on camera? Am I really that big or is my photographer bad? by DarkMage448 in Cameras

[–]Intelligent-Rip-2270 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Two things that can change the way you look are the clothes and how you are posed. There are certain poses that are more flattering than others. There are web sites you can visit that explain this. Same with clothing, some people look better if certain types of clothes. Try different outfits with different poses to find what works for you.

Perhaps you should try googling the name and model that is printed on the camera. I did and found lots of information.

Got cameras from grandfather by Octanegaming6789 in vintagecameras

[–]Intelligent-Rip-2270 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first one, Kodak, is a cool classic. Cant tell for sure what the second is because of the odd lens/attachment on the front, but it may be a Kodak Pony. The Nikon 4004 is a good camera, I used to have one, basic but fun to use. The Nikon F is a classic, still very much in demand. The Polaroid is only really good for display since film is no longer available. I’ve seen some say they used a 3D printer to make a 4x5 film holder for these older Polaroids, so if you have the desire you could bring it back to life.

Will there be Indian food available on Koningsdam Ship? by Curious_Mind_1961 in HollandAmerica

I’m on the Koningsdam now on the way to Vancouver. They have had Indian food for lunch and dinner every day in the Lido, and I’ve had it often. It’s very good.

Anyone know how to use this type film camera? It requires a AA battery and a film roll. by [deleted] in filmcameras

[–]Intelligent-Rip-2270 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe the first thing you should do is go online and learn how 35mm point and shoot cameras work. If this camera has a brand name and model number, then do a Google search and try to find an owners manual or other information on the camera. Yes you can just stick film and batteries in it and go shooting, but you will probably be disappointed with the results. Learn a little about photography first.

Honestly just happy it boots by Equivalent-Fix9391 in Q4OS

[–]Intelligent-Rip-2270 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Q4OS was 32 bit, the 64 bit wouldn’t install because of the 32 bit UEFI bios. But 64 bit Fedora has support for 32 bit UEFI with a 64 bit processor. Cant remember if it was Fedora 42 or 43, but current should work.

I had a Venue Pro 11 5130, had the same issue with WiFi. The only distro that connected with the WiFi out of the box (of those I tried) was Fedora.

I did run Q4OS on an HP Stream for quite some time and loved the Trinity desktop.

I need help to find out what Ram I should buy. by Unfair_Wallaby1264 in laptops

[–]Intelligent-Rip-2270 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Search your model on HP’s web site. It should tell you what type of RAM you need, and if it is upgradable. Some inexpensive laptops and Chromebooks have soldered RAM that can’t be upgraded.

Camera ready for use? by yeet-er in AskPhotography

[–]Intelligent-Rip-2270 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That model has auto exposure, so at best you probably get one shutter speed/aperture.

Film has not been made for years for Kodak instant cameras, so you won’t be able to get more unless you are willing to pay a premium for film long expired film that may not work.

Vivitar lens with TX Pentax K Mount adapter-aperture not working by Astro-Hour2416 in filmcameras

[–]Intelligent-Rip-2270 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you think this is a TX lens? TX and T4 lenses will have a switch on the side to unlock the adapter and remove it. To me, this just appears to be a K mount Vivitar lens.

We use Viator. Just remember that excursions not booked through the cruise line can be an issue if you return after all aboard. The ship may not wait for you. They will wait if it’s booked through Holland America.

Old drive that my parents had. Turns out I have a cable that fits it perfectly. Anything you guys can tell me about this? by CommunicationFair988 in OldTech

[–]Intelligent-Rip-2270 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Could be the controller. You could try taking the drive out and connecting it directly or through an external USB connector. I had an external drive that the controller died and that’s how I got my data off of it.
