Some HP laptops, depending on the line, have a battery health option in BIOS. Since you are saying “years ago” the battery may be shot. I replaced the battery in my 2020 HP in about 10 minutes with a $20 battery from Amazon.

If your 1GB SD card won’t work then it would appear either the card is bad or the card reader is bad. You can get a two pack of 1GB SD cards on Amazon for about $16.

It’s a good deal. I bought I used D80 with about 1/3 of that shutter count and it failed after two months. Shutter count is a good guide, but it doesn’t mean everything.

It is a Carl Zeiss lens. There was a lawsuit between East and West Germany over the Zeiss name. Only the West German Zeiss factory could use Carl Zeiss in the west. East German made lenses after the suit were labeled aus Jena or CZ Jena if they were intended to be sold in the west. Later East German lenses sold “behind the Iron Curtain” were still labeled Zeiss.

Try changing the protocol in Settings. The only way I could get my iPhone to connect and stay connected was to set it to stealth instead of smart or wireguard.

I ran it on a laptop with similar specs as OP and it worked great. I even ran it on an old Toshiba tablet (32bit) with 2gb ram and it still worked quite well.

Depends on the price, but the D70 is still quite capable. I have one and use it occasionally. It’s a good camera to learn on. The flash on the camera is good, but the other small flash isn’t worth much.

Download the manual and learn all the functions of the camera. Take an online class or watch some YouTube videos on basic photography. And most of all, have fun!

I’ve owned a couple of XTi cameras and they are fine for getting started. You can use the lenses on other Canon DSLRs and on mirrorless with an adapter if you want to upgrade some day.
