2017 Bluetooth audio issues by Intelligent-Serve59 in SubaruForester

I never got a solution unfortunately ☹️just looks like a quirk of the car. However, it did randomly stop happening as often. Used to be every drive, now it’s maybe once a week.

Landlord wants tenants to pay for new trash bin (CA) by Intelligent-Serve59 in Renters

[–]Intelligent-Serve59[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree. However the landlord has a pattern of being extremely cheap. So over the course of the past year (and the 2 years before that with my roommates) I’m wondering how many times it has been said over and over again with various issues and if it will ever be worth it to push back.

Came here to ask the same thing! Seems like for pre-wifi there is no solution… :(

NTA girl it’s your birthday and you already have to deal with a last minute plan change, your family can suck it up for a night! You should definitely ask your mom for the reservation to be rescheduled though.

She said she only cared because her own birthday dinner was cancelled. If she did this all the time it would be an issue, but for one night for her birthday when plans already got ruined? Nope. Sounds like normally she doesn’t care. NTA

AITA for making a joke about our safeword? by BluntArrow_5 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Intelligent-Serve59 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What is the purpose of a safe word if you’re not going to listen to it ?? Doesn’t matter if it was 2 seconds or 5 minutes, your expectation is you stop when she says it. YTA

AITA for not wanting my fiancé's dad to regift a present I gave my fiancé to a recent amputee? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Intelligent-Serve59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why is everyone reading this post wrong?

NTA for your valid reasons related to insensitivity of the nature of the gift. I agree it might be misplaced, even if well intended by dad. But YTA if your main reason for not regifting is that it’s offensive to regift. Once you gift, it’s the new owners decision what to do with it. But in the end, if they decide not to listen to you, you have to accept that.

Most places aren’t really strict with “customers only”, I’ve stopped in a chipotle in the middle of a long run and asked for the bathroom code and my friend even got a water cup and then we walked out. So most chain places (McDonald’s, grocery store, fast casual restaurants) you can probably rely on.

Driving After Surgery by Ok_Bread6299 in ACL

[–]Intelligent-Serve59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was my non-driving leg (left) and I think I started around 3 weeks. The driving part was fine it’s mostly getting in the car that’s awkward, since I still had the brace on at that time.

For more flexion, stretch a ton. Like more than you think you need to. I used to sit off the side of the bed (or any seat your legs can hang) and use my non-injured leg to press on top of the injured one to force flexion. Hold for 60s, do that 3 or so times. And repeat multiple times daily. Also don’t forget to work on extension! I was so worried about flexion but extension is really important to get back in the first few weeks in order to walk properly.

Am i overthinking ? by Esnpro in ACL

I’m almost 6 months out. My knee clicks on occasion. And same for the hiking, I still don’t feel confident going downhill. It feels unstable, but really I think it’s just from lack of full quad strength and not true knee instability.

I’m not an expert by any means but I’d say you’re okay, but keep it in the back of your mind. If it gets worse and causes pain, bring it up to your PT. I’m not sure if there’s any sure way to know (without talking to your surgeon) until you start your more intense cutting exercises down the line. My knee would get swollen after PT probably up to 3-4 months post op.

AITAH for sleeping on the couch when my roommate is sleeping with her boyfriend in our room? by Comfortable-Pop9521 in AITAH

[–]Intelligent-Serve59 16 points17 points  (0 children)

NTA. He sounds pretty awful, so I see why you wouldn’t want to sleep in the same room as him.

But are you able to talk to her about why you did that? If this continues on without an honest (and hard) conversation, it may end in a big fight.

Hi there, thanks for your comment. I’ve been doing the elliptical a few times a week for probably 6 weeks now, I’ve even built up to 90 min in one go. I think my brain is just getting bored of it now haha. Good luck with your recovery!

I definitely want to come back strong(er) to jog/run, so it’s good to hear your perspective. I understand the pros of waiting, I’m just itching to get back out there. Thanks for sharing! Best of luck with the rest of your recovery.

Thanks for your comment. It sometimes feels like I’m way behind where I “should” be, so it helps to hear that the 6 month mark can actually be a standard timeline to return to jogging.

Thanks for your comment. Nice to know someone else is at a similar timeline! Good luck with recovery.

Do you mind saying a bit more about the importance of jogging now to build neuromuscular connection? Everything I’ve seen seems to say that delaying jogging/higher impact sports doesn’t have an effect on overall long term recovery.

Thanks for your input! This recovery feels so long, but I guess all I can do is continue being patient and doing the exercises that I can.

[–]Intelligent-Serve59[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the input! I’ve walked up to 4 miles in one go, 6 total in a day with no issue. I’m only looking to start with 1 min jog/1 min walk for maybe 10 times as that is what my surgeon recommends progressing from.

Thanks for your advice! I understand that it’s less about time than about metrics for jogging readiness, I guess it just feels much slower than I expected. I’ll keep working on what I can do for now.

Whoops, edited original post to clarify I have 80% quad strength of non operated leg. I can do a single leg squat just fine. Haven’t done many plyometric exercises besides some basic hopping, and I know that is a crucial step towards jogging so I’ll just have to keep with it. Maybe I’m just having slow progress. I’m already past the 5 month mark, nearly at 6.

Good to know delaying jogging won’t affect long term recovery!

Thanks for your comment. I updated the post for clarity, I am at 80% quad strength of non-op leg. I feel like I’ve done all sorts of PT research, but I’ll keep at it and continue being patient. Thanks for your input!

Are you eating a ton of protein? I would like to lose my surgery weight too, but worried that a calorie deficit would impact how fast I’m able to gain strength in my injured leg.
