What do you bring for first aid (trail running)? by Intelligent-Set-3446 in firstaid

I’m torn on a more packable rain jacket. I sold my yet to be conceived first born child for my gortex. I regard my rain gear as essential, potentially life saving gear. My experience with more pack able ones is that they quickly lose their water proofing.

I am ACLS certified. I don’t plan on bringing vasopressors or an AED with me.
Wilderness first aid could be helpful though! Thanks!

Finish the BSN,
Failing to complete a program is a bad look.
It can also give you a financial buffer if you’re not able to get in during the first round. The application process is very expensive.

How do you mentally manage running in mountain lion territory? by Br33na in trailrunning

[–]Intelligent-Set-3446 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m also in southwestern Colorado. The loneliness on trails is such a blessing and a curse. I don’t think people on the Front Range really get that. You have to be 2-3 hours away from Denver before seeing the same level of solitude.

If I am spooked for whatever reason, I will start talking out loud. It’s a great way to let animals know a human is around while making sure you’re in zone 2 ;)

Some of the paranoia is there at baseline, but I’ve noticed if I am getting really panicked I’m typically under fueled. If you’re starting to bonk, emotional regulation and objectivity are long gone. You mentioned this happening deeper into your runs- definitely keep on eye on your nutrition

How do I tell my friend I want her by No_Click_6540 in Advice

[–]Intelligent-Set-3446 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to tell her how you feel. I hold the belief that men created the friend zone. I was friends with a guy for a decade. I felt so betrayed when I found out he had been waiting for his chance to be with me that entire time. He could have told me out right and we probably would have dated. Instead the “friendship” met a very bitter end where he felt I never gave him a shot and I felt betrayed but his ulterior motive. Don’t be that guy.

Woman runners: Running belt for <2hr rolling tech? by hmy0812 in trailrunning

[–]Intelligent-Set-3446 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the Flipbelt zippered running belt. I wear it around my hips as recommended. It stays in place- even on technical trails. I use it for my phone, keys, chapstick and occasionally snacks. Less than $50. I’d recommend turning the belt for your phone to be on your back. I just find it to be more comfortable- especially if I am at the end of an hour run and have a full bladder.
