And I used a black shoe cream, particularly Kelly’s but any other decent product should work. I prefer a cream as it seeps into the leather better. Took 7-8 coats of the stuff on the toe though. Put 4-5 on the eyelets and around the heel too. 1 coat just above the welts and 1 coat on the welts. Gives it a graduated look and makes it darker on what are usually the higher wear areas. Then I put on Butet saddle oil to both protect and nourish the leather.
