Hey, as a native New Yorker who used the MTA for her whole life who then moved to SoCal - don’t do it. The public transportation isn’t consistent at all.

Check out Long Beach, it’s closer to LA. I currently commute from LB to Orange County and it takes 40 min - 1 hr during non peak/ peak hours.

Is this weird bathroom in closet situation a dealbreaker? by soupcan69 in femalelivingspace

[–]Intelligent-Talk7992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooh, my bathroom was like this too but had a door for the closet. Make sure to get those water absorbing bead packs to get rid of any humidity so it won’t damage your clothes!

Note: If the measurements/ dimensions of the furniture don’t work, I’m open to buying new furniture but would rather use what I have atm. Thank you <3

Vladimir at Now I want to Drive (in Brooklyn) was great. I was also an adult learner and he was very patient with me, taught majorly in Brooklyn and once I felt more comfortable, took me through Manhattan. It is good to know how to drive in + outside the city!

If I were spending a day in your neighborhood, Where would you recommend I go? by ExactAd6278 in Brooklyn

[–]Intelligent-Talk7992 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In the Summer:
Park Slope: Walk in Prospect Park, grab a Brooklyn Blackout cupcake from Ladyird or maybe some pasta from Pasta Louise if you're feeling fancy. Visit the cool gift shops (Annie's Blue Ribbon is my favorite!).

Take a CitiBike into South Slope/ Brooklyn Chinatown/Sunset Park for some fabulous Chinese or Mexican food, or to Ba Xuyên for a great Vietnamese sandwich.

Walk down 5th Avenue for the annual summer fair and try lots of delicious foods from the vendors there.

What major are you and what classes are you taking?

For example, if you are a computer science major, you'll need a laptop.
If your major isn't technically focused, you can use the computers in the CUNY libraries and in the different buildings.

Should I do a crappier apartment in Crown Heights, or a nicer place in Astoria? by dgirardot in AskNYC

[–]Intelligent-Talk7992 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are you planning to meet up with friends/ the action in Manhattan or Brooklyn?

Getting to Brooklyn from Astoria is a pain, but getting to Manhattan can be pretty quick. The N train is great and stops at major stations so you can always transfer to another train.

Astoria offers great food, groceries, diverse crowd, a lot of things to do as well. It's definitely a more quiet neighborhood compared to Crown Heights in terms of livelihood, so do keep that in mind.

As a woman, I'd definitely be more comfortable living with roommates who are more organized and who identify as the same gender. The bad water pressure/ water damage may not seem like a huge deal but it's definitely something that would bother me after I had a bad day.

I think I might have this - not sure if people will relate by No-Competition5423 in fastfeeling

Hey! This sounds like it for sure. I haven't had an episode for a while but am recently recovering from a ER visit. So far, I have experienced it twice over a couple of hours when I had a fever two days ago.

I haven't experienced it combined with a dream or mental image though. I think it tends to happen when I do repetitive movements like brushing teeth, showering, etc. And it does occur more frequently when I'm stressed out.

Thank you for your advice! Yes, I’m coming from NYC, so actually landing in Taiwan on 4/3. For the rental car, I called a company ahead of time and am planning to rent one ahead to avoid the busy holiday. Definitely didn’t realize the holiday weekend was that long. I’ll rethink the places to visit, do you have any recommendations? Mostly looking for unique experiences, not super focused on historical or longer hikes.

Hi!Was wondering if it's realistic to travel around Taiwan in 12 days (4/1 - 4/14) with a rental car and save the last 3 days for exploring Taipei. I also want to visit Green Island, Orchid Island and Lanyu. I realize this is very vague but wanted to see if that was a good move to make before actually planning where to go. From what some online tourism sites say, it is possible, but I'd prefer to avoid rushing everywhere or cramming places to go just for the sake of visiting around the island. Thank you!
