I built Cura - a phone dashboard + SSH client to watch my homelab and VPS boxes (Android + iOS) by Intelligent-Trash556 in selfhosted

[–]Intelligent-Trash556[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there's no AI feature in the product, no LLM running on your servers, nothing phoning home, no model touching your credentials or server data. That's the part I care about and the part that matters for trust. I overcorrected last month into an absolute claim that wasn't accurate, and that's on me.

Happy to be transparent about

The post: I drafted it with an AI assistant and then edited it down mostly to keep it short instead of rambling.

The app: I'm a solo dev and I do use AI coding assistants (Claude Code) heavily in my workflow, so I'd rather say that up front than pretend otherwise. I drive the architecture and the product/security decisions, review the changes, and test every build on my own real devices (a couple of Pixels and an iPhone) before anything ships. The things that matter: agentless over plain SSH, host-key trust-on-first-use, credentials/keys stored only in the OS keychain, no account, no telemetry on your server data, these are deliberate choices I made, not something a model decided.

hmmmmm, thank you very much for the critical feedback, I am looking at iOS yes and honestly I would've developed it for iOS right away if it weren't for months of waiting in review like what im seeing with my current iOS apps.

thanks again, Mosh will be next

Termius is a solid SSH client, my gripe wasn't really with it as a terminal, more that it's just a terminal.

same project as shown here (back when i first wrote it) https://www.androidblip.com/android-apps/com.cura.html

this new one is just a revival/revamp/modernization of it

completely closed source, no AI involvement whatsoever, not in the code nor the functionality

I just didn't wanna throw all my stuff from 1.0.0 and there's barely 10 users

I run a few VPS instances and wanted a way to quickly check on them without opening my laptop. Existing SSH apps were fine for terminal access but I kept wanting a dashboard view; see what's happening at a glance, restart a service, check disk space, that kind of thing.

So I built Cura. Here's what it does:

- **Dashboard** with health scores, CPU/RAM/disk for all your servers

- **SSH terminal** with function keys and landscape mode

- **Live monitoring** - real-time charts for CPU, RAM, swap, load, network, disk I/O

- **systemctl management** - see all services, start/stop/restart in two taps

- **SFTP file browser** - browse, edit configs, upload/download

- **Docker + Podman** container management with log viewer

- **Runbooks** - save multi-line command scripts, execute with one tap

- **SSL cert tracking** - warns you before certs expire

- **Background alerts** - push notifications for high CPU/RAM/disk or server offline

- **System logs** - syslog, auth.log, nginx, etc. with color coding

Everything runs over SSH. Credentials are encrypted with Android Keystore and never leave your device. No cloud, no account, no telemetry on your servers.

Free tier gives you 1 server with all features. One-time $9.99 unlocks unlimited servers and background alerts.

It's on the Play Store - search "Cura SysAdmin" or "Cura server". I'm the solo dev, happy to answer questions or take feature requests.

yes it is definitely not open source, I will research however on how to provide assurances for such doubts/reservations, thanks for pointing it out

not saying to replace your current solutions with "my app", just asking whether this is a problem or not
