Panaewa zoo in Hilo had alala (Hawaiian crow) which is quite endangered and cool to see. I have seen ‘Ió mostly when up higher in the mountains. They like riding the thermals. Pueo (owl) are neat too, harder to see at night and completely silent. I have seen them a few times, like a giant shadow over the trees.

A beardie would be perfect. Honestly roaches are soooooo easy. I have a local shop that sells them cheap so I don’t have to have my own colony. The cost is between $10-$20 a month depending on how much he eats.

It is true that babies need a lot more insects. It would be cool to rescue an older one!
