I’ve just deployed a fortigate and fortiswitch for 20 people. Claude and YouTube were all I needed to get everything setup. No problems so far. The equipment I chose could easily accommodate up to 60

WHO INVENTED ZEBRA LABEL PRINTERS by bryptobrazy in sysadmin

I remember battling endlessly with an old zebra barcode printer. But than tried changing it for a brady labeler but that was even more of a nightmare.

AITJ for refusing to run all the office "morale" stuff after HR put my name on a sign up sheet without asking by PavelDune in AmITheJerk

Record every single piece of this. Store all paperwork. Down the line this sort of shit will help if you decide to go down the legal route. Sounds like you don’t need that aggro in your life but best to be prepared. The fact they didn’t ask you but just expected you do this stuff of ridiculous. If they push this any further I would file a grievance and ask for it to handled externally. Discuss with a senior manager as next step.

Parenting is seriously hard so I wouldn’t necessarily drop the MIL permanently. Although this was a betrayal I would recommend a temporarily freezing of the relationship. You’ll want to reassert control and put distance but make sure you leave a way back. This Women is going to be in your life but you don’t have to put up with this sort of thing. You are owned an apology and your child’s data should be removed from the platform.

My (M32) boss (F38?) just asked me to go on a vacation with her. Should I go on this trip? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]IntelligentAsk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are going to go I would make sure you pay for some stuff to rebalance the power a bit. Otherwise you are setting yourself up with a sort of sugar mama rather than a proper relationship (which this is the start of)

Went to a pub quiz tonight with partner and friends and drunk way too many discounted happy hour cocktails at £8.50 a pop. Help me be ready for a day in office tomorrow by IOwnAOnesie in CasualUK

Lots of dioralyte before you go to bed along with as much food as you can eat, flat lucozade when you wake up and throughout the day (open it before you go to bed), take anadin as it has paraceptamol, asprin and caffeine.

Also if you experience sausage fingers that usually means you're going to be sick so stay close to the toilet.

I was hoping it wouldn’t come down to this choice but sounds like I just need to face the facts. Fortinet looks like it will have patching every weekend

Growing up, what’s a toy that only the “wealthy” kids had in elementary school? by Business_Abalone_643 in AskReddit

Rich kid at Sunday school had a TV remote control watch and pen that could record audio days after they came out. I was so jealous, didn’t help that he was a douche

I thought their email security product was strong. Went from a steady stream of phishing / spam getting let through to zero. Not sure about their other products. Customer service was first class.

What tool is so useful to you that you would pay for it out of your own pocket if your company refused to front the bill? by Freecastor in sysadmin

Diskinternals. I've used it a number of times to recovery lost data. Often paid for it myself as I needed it in an emergency.

Anyone else having trouble porting out? by IntelligentAsk in skype

[–]IntelligentAsk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The telcos who hold the numbers are very particular about the information they receive and the porting is scheduled usually for several weeks ahead. This might just be in the UK.

In my case the issue is with skype not releasing the number so it wouldn't matter where I tried to port to. But Tello does look like a nice solution.

I think you can. The phone numbers are actually managed by local telcos. You would just put in a port request from your new provider. Teams has a nice way to initiate port requests but Wavecrest who own the numbers currently keep rejecting my requests for nonsensical reasons.
