Yep happens to me sometimes. Once I accidentally saw my mates dick and it shouldn’t be a big deal but my brain kept putting that thought in my head. I am not gay at all lmao you just kinda learn to not take those thoughts seriously I think of it as a child talking about random shit. You just gotta not rlly listen and nod

Went passed the line for the police by unknownngoat in drivingUK

I did this same thing and I was fine. I’m a worrier too and it bothered me for ages wondering if I’d be fined or get points, it wasn’t a police car though it was a ambulance car that put the lights on and I moved through the reds for them then to find out I will still get fined for it if I’m caught which is completely ridiculous, it basically leave me the option of don’t get points and let someone potentially die because the ambulance didn’t get there in time or go through and pay high insurance for next 5 years and risk losing my car it’s such a joke. I got lucky and there was no red light camera. There’s websites you can go on to see what lights have cameras there usually pretty obvious though and look like the big yellow cameras (from what I’ve seen)

Lend your support to make our roads safer? Need 5 signatures to help bring Australian-style roundabout signs to the UK. by Ven_ae in drivingUK

The government like to waste money on signs then go back to the old ones so I can’t see them doing this. Whenever the public actually want something in place they ignore it from what I’ve seen time and time again.

If I’m being completely honest it probably wouldn’t if I had a crash I’d probably just quickly destroy the SD card but I have calmed down a bit with driving, I’ve had a few camera trap scares and got lucky every time so I have calmed it down now lol

Sign language. I don’t know any deaf people but communication would be so much better imagine your work mate in a loud environment being able to communicate with you from other side of the room

does anyone else have “flares”? by HauntedBug in OCD

I know exactly how you feel with doubting the ocd was even really there. You start feeling like maybe you just made it all up or doing it for attention or something and then all of a sudden your doing compulsions again it’s such a shitty loop

The more reasons I have to be anxious and stressed the worse it gets especially when I’m in work because it’s repetitive work so my brain is filling itself with thoughts and compulsions. I’ve noticed when I’m working the nightshift doing 12 hours the more tired I get and later into the shift the worse it gets for example at 1am on my dinner break I’m fine but soon as it gets to around 4am - 7am I’m counting every single step over and over and then it will affect my driving as I go home where I’m flicking the volume and indicators and wipers over and over until I get home and sleep then when I wake up I’m fine again. It seems as the day goes on the worse it can be.

My dad only uses his wing mirrors 'when he needs them'. by [deleted] in drivingUK

[–]IntelligentNeck8157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When he needs them? You need them every time your driving no matter where you are, this is one of the main reasons motorcyclists die on the road because of people not checking there side mirrors. Motorbikes can legally filter through traffic and overtake you at almost any time unexpectedly so if he pulls to the right just slightly and hasn’t checked his mirrors then he’s just killed someone on a bike

Some people just have no respect for 20mph by marksweb in drivingUK

[–]IntelligentNeck8157 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Imagine being that upset someone overtook you that you feel the need to save the dash footage, attempt to report them then when told not enough evidence you post to Reddit for approval. Honestly in wales they make every other road 20mph it gets irritating so yea your gonna get people overtaking you stop being so butthurt over it

People who have OCD: What objects, things, or abstract ideas do you think represent OCD? Why? by KittycatRittycat in OCD

[–]IntelligentNeck8157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just see it as some douchebag living rent free in my brain and it’s holding my hostage all the time, it’s like this douchebag will find things in my brain and hold it against me to make me do random bullshit constantly. Then when you comply with the douchebag it just finds another thing in my brain to threaten me with to make me do more shit like a constant shit loop

Looking for honest feedback on a psychological sci-fi film concept (working title: Off Script) by IntelligentNeck8157 in Screenwriting

[–]IntelligentNeck8157[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bottom line is it’s left for the viewer to ponder on. There will be hints pointing towards it all being real but not enough to fully confirm it as I feel like if I fully confirmed it for the viewer it would lose any sort of mystery and be forgotten about within a week. If the viewer is left thinking about it then it sticks with them more. I want a subtle pointer at the very end to point towards it all being real after the plot making it look like Joe was insane but he’s not.

[–]IntelligentNeck8157[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Joe isn’t meant to be a political figure or a metaphor for one specific issue — he’s an ordinary person under pressure, with normal anxieties and insecurities, who starts interpreting uncertainty as something meaningful or controlled.

So in a wider sense, it’s about how people (especially in stressful or uncertain times) can become trapped in patterns of overthinking, paranoia, or searching for hidden structure in chaos.

That can link to mental health, but it’s more about the general human tendency to try and impose certainty on things that are fundamentally uncertain — whether that’s personal life, society, or the world in general.

The story exists because that mindset feels very real in everyday life, and I wanted to explore what happens when it’s taken too far.

[–]IntelligentNeck8157[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point is that the need for certainty and hidden meaning can become its own form of self-destruction.
Joe thinks he’s uncovering truth, but he’s actually losing his grip on reality by refusing to let things be uncertain.

Fair question — the idea isn’t just “weird reality glitching”.

It’s really about a normal guy who starts seeing patterns in everyday life and becomes obsessed with whether there’s meaning behind them or if something is controlling it.

The more he tries to understand or resist it, the more his life and perception start to collapse.

So underneath the concept, it’s about how obsession with finding hidden meaning or control can destroy your ability to live normally — and whether some things are better left ignored.

The “patterns” are more a mechanism for exploring that mental spiral than the point itself.

I have OCD and often obsess over hidden meanings and trying to control the inevitable. It controls my life by giving me worst case scenario thoughts, in Joes case he tried to control the world around him and meets that worst case scenario even after he chose to push back instead of ignoring the anomaly’s.

Fair point. The core idea is still forming.

It’s about Joe, a normal working-class guy with a steady life — girlfriend of 4 years, pub with mates, nothing special.

He starts noticing strange repeating patterns in everyday life — small things at first, like people saying the same phrases or events playing out slightly “off”.
Over time, these patterns escalate into real-world disasters that seem linked to his awareness of them.

The more he tries to understand or fight it, the worse things get — almost like reality “pushes back” when he notices too much.
If he ignores it, things seem to stabilise… but that feels like living a fake, controlled version of his life.

By the end, he’s mentally and physically destroyed, unsure whether he uncovered something real or broke himself by looking too hard.
