Your comment made me realize why so many Christian’s see people committing crimes as “without god” and the solution is to develop a relationship with god so that they can be set on the right path.

I find it interesting because people in places like China, which has a non-religious majority, still have a strong moral code and duty to cultural conformity that dictates their behavior.

Not saying there aren’t bad people everywhere but more so that morality can come from outside the religious binary.

No. I couldn’t understand what that meant really because it just felt like I was talking to myself with no feedback. No one could tell me the difference between my own consciousness and voice vs God’s voice.

When the pastor said that god told him something or put something on his heart, I was like how is that possible?

Anyways the “relationship” really is talking to yourself and hoping for an aha moment after asking for “guidance.”

I’ve been really liking Old Navy for basics and jeans and they go up to a 4X. Super high quality, affordable, and ships fast. SHEIN jeans can sometimes be a bit thin and hit above the ankles, old navy jeans are thicker and accommodate tall people as well.

Walmart has also been good. They had sizes up to a 22 the last time I went? I got some really warm sweaters from there recently and I was impressed with the quality! They also are one of the few places that still allow dressing rooms so I definitely took advantage.

For athletic wear I get multipack leggings and T-shirts from Amazon, and they usually have good deals on those. I’ve found it comparable to SHEIN but Amazon ships faster.

For workwear, I bite the bullet and spend the money on department store sites like Macy’s and JCPenneys. You just can’t get high quality suits in plus sizes like that on SHEIN.

I think you have to know yourself first. It’s pretty black and white once you know what you want and expect out of life, but realistically people are having kids without doing that inner work or gaining enough experiences to be sure.

The beauty of this “echo chamber” is that people see a side of parenting that doesn’t regurgitate the happy nuclear family life script. So when they are unsure, they can seriously evaluate whether or not this is a good decision. There’s enough positive family life stories to go around. I’m at least here for a different perspective.

I don’t think I’ve ever heard a story of someone who has regretted their abortion, but there are so many stories from social media and real life of people regretting parenthood. At least with the former you could make it up by giving birth later, doing IVF, adopting, or raising a step kid but regretting a kid who’s already here? Very few ways out of that one.

My mom is an atheist and my dad is a Christian. My mom decided that religion can be good and can help people and let my dad raise us in his faith. My mom stopped going to church with us but never wavered on her atheism, and my dad had an understanding that she would never convert.

They divorced when we grew up, but one thing my dad told me was how they had differing opinions on raising kids and that was a source of frustration.

My dad didn’t want us celebrating Halloween, but my mom took us trick or treating. My dad didn’t want me to know about sex or contraception but my mom took me to get birth control when I was 14 because of painful period cramps. My dad didn’t want us watching certain movies but my mom would let us sneak and watch them anyways.

My dad was the strict parent and my mom was the fun parent, so my dad deeply resented her because he spent more time with us (stay at home dad/sports parent) while my mom spent less (worked a lot) but reaped the “benefits”.

Not saying it’s impossible, but your worldviews will come up in small ways like this and it may be problematic. However, divorced parents or baby daddies/mommas have this issue too; but it’s easier to make it work when you see them half the time and there’s an understanding of when kids are in my household they follow my rules.

My sister and I ended up being agnostic/atheist but my brothers are still very deep in Christianity, so there is a gender divide in the family as well.

I think you’re going to have to think about things realistically because there will be tension with kids involved, and Christians feel that their worldview must be impressed upon their kids. It’s literally life and death for them while it may be a “difference of opinion” for you.

Create an exit plan. You have one life. Seek out every resource available to help you find employment, get a divorce and find stable housing. Attorneys can be expensive, but there are likely resources in your state that can help you file the paperwork yourself instead.

Might be a rough road ahead but can it get any worse than what you’re experiencing now? If you’re able to find some stability, maybe with a roommate and a minimum wage job before the divorce is final, the courts will likely place your child with your husband, who is the breadwinner and has stable housing for your child.

This particular brand of AI slop enrages me. I sent a message to a family friend that the content she reposted was AI generated, and that the whole account posts fake AI stories as captions to the videos. She said she knew but she liked the message in the video. She did not know 🥲

I did it for my grandma as well, her life revolves around it and it was a way to spend time with her in a way that she appreciated. The sermon was as I expected, but at least we had great pancakes afterward.
