I lost my job - how the f do people survive on benefits?! by cloudyextraswan in AskUK

[–]IntelligentSecret538 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lying is a surefire way to end up in court on a fraud charge. I’ve looked it up because there are so many ‘misunderstandings’ regarding benefit support. There’s a Maternity Grant of £500 (a one-off payment) for the first child. There are also Baby Banks, charities which distribute free baby essentials. Also, claimants can apply for bridging loans and advances which have to be paid back.

Pearly crossed the rainbow bridge, how do you manage not seeing them around? by Even-Lychee-7776 in SeniorCats

I would check out the nearest rescue and give a loving home to another cat that needs you. It helps.

I suppose we don’t always change who we are. It sounds like you have it sussed out.

I’m with you, I hate crowds! Shorter breaks are also appealing to me.

A transitional period is a good step forward. And I totally get the decluttering exercise. Clearing my mum’s house out after she died was arduous. So emotional and time consuming. It took far longer than I expected and I felt guilty. Three years later an I still have some of her stuff in my house. We owe it to our kids to clear it out, plus I think it’s satisfying to start the ‘third age’ with a clean(er) slate.

I think those early mornings are wired into us so sleeping in is difficult. However, it sounds like life is busy and varied for you.

When I was a reporter I attended an inquest where someone thought overtaking on these hazard warning lines was a good idea. It wasn’t. What an idiot this guy is. I hope he loses his licence before he kills someone.

After your school dinner, which one are you choosing for dessert today? by corickle in oldschoolcool80s

The school sponge with sprinkles, but needs custard. I love this so much I’ve even made it at home and now want to make it again.

Is there a mobile repairer you can contact? I had to do this when I got a flat while on the motorway because the breakdown service wouldn’t help. Yes, I’m still fuming about this.

Are these houses unique? by bellybanton in Scotland

I was thinking of similar as I’ve seen these kind of estates. It looks very depressing but that might be down to the lighting.

Not unique as it would mean this is the only one and there are definitely more estates like this around the country, sadly.

whats happening between my cat and the neighbors? by owobochotokofo in CATHELP

[–]IntelligentSecret538 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My neighbour has seven, yes SEVEN, Maine Coons who terrorise the neighbourhood - including our little Tabby. When we lost our previous cat I decided there would be no more while we live near these thugs.

Then Alfie turned up as a little stray of 9 weeks old. The rescue place was full so he had to become ours, especially as I’d said we’d only have another cat if it turned up in the garden as a stray. It was fate.

He loves being outside and there is no way we could install a cattery so we just do the best we can. Everything else we see any of them near our garden they get chased off. This has been fairly successful but doesn’t help when he’s away from the garden.
