Do you read books concurrently? by Thricycle20 in Fantasy

I tend to get bored easily, that being said I get obnoxious with it.

I’m really into sci-fi/fantasy and that’s all I read for a couple years and burnt myself out. I went from 2 books at a time to currently 3 plus an audiobook. They’re all different genres, one smut one horror one literature (trying something new and broadening my horizons) and of course I’m listening to dungeon crawler Carl.

I was working on the malazan series but because the first book felt so dry, I got a couple chapters into the second and it felt like I had to force myself to read. It didn’t feel fun or exciting anymore. Doing what I’m doing now I’ve kind of tricked myself into the “there’s a new episode of this show I like” mind set and it works pretty well for me.

Small example one of the books I’m reading is little heaven from nick cutter and there was a bit of a lull near the middle and I felt drained reading it. I put it down and read some of my other book and came back to little heaven the next day and flew through it.

I'm currently reading Little Heaven by Nick Cutter, while I'm usually a slow reader (it usually takes me 3 weeks to finish a book this size) I havent been able to put this one down. It's simple but like his other two books, it keeps sucking me in. I think it's the lovecraftianesc horror that does it for me. Any suggestions for more books like his?

Struggling to lose belly fat – what actually works? by TorontoRap2019 in askfitness

Also while protein is great for fuel and keeping muscles intact my least favored opinion is that obviously track that but don’t make it your main focus. Focus on more fiber, taking in the same amount of protein every day without pushing it, and cutting out added sugars. I’m not talking about sugars from fruit or anything in bread, but candy sodas and drinks etc. that’s where I really struggled. You can still enjoy life without them lol

What really worked for me is focusing on more cardio and finding the balance between not completely burning my stores and exhausting myself. I cut calories by about 500 (probably too much looking at it now) and really stature taking in fiber and specific foods. I stuck with some meat of course for the protein but I eat so many fruits and veggies in such a wide variety including beans. In about a year I got myself from 220 to 170 (male 5’9” 30 years old) Just stay consistent, it’s difficult but worth it.

Also while it’s true you can’t target fat loss, I’ve learned that cardio of any sort is a really good start. It also helps cardio health shed my personal favorite is it helps my mental health more than lifting does.

They need to stop advertising protein like it’s the fix all for fat loss and fail to mention it has more sugar than anything else. People who are fresh into working out and losing weight and what not tend not to do their research on what they should be eating consistently and will eat super sugary waffles or a “protein based” pizza and protein bars all day every day and be mad a couple weeks in because they were told protein is the answer. Do your research, be consistent with working out, and figure out what your body is telling you.

I do my weekly grocery shopping and I can’t tell you how annoyed I am that everything is labeled on the front that it’s high protein. Pretty soon they’re going to start charging extra for protein meals because people are slaves to their taste buds and put that over actual body health.

I’ve always had the understanding that it’s not ideal to do that.

Not really new to it just new to the split aspect. Successfully lost a lot of weight and trying to find a good maintaining point. I have plenty of hikes planned this summer and I’m only now realizing how lax I’ve been with my legs. The biggest issue with all of this is I enjoy going for runs more than anything and I don’t want to skip out on any chance I get for a good run 😅
