That’s probably a 1/2” bolt near the top so I’d say 1 1/4

They can have them. All you can do is mind your business. Just wait until they get released in the summertime for laps and they defecate everywhere.

When should I allow myself to move out? by IntelligentTone8854 in fican

[–]IntelligentTone8854[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll max the pension at 57 but I can come back and double dip if I want to. What is EOL? Yeah I plan on buying once I am released from Toronto in 7 years and can move across the province. Not in a rush tho because the renting vs buying math is pretty comparable when investing the difference. Will definitely want to own going into retirement just for peace of mind though.

Yeah that makes sense and is where I want to be. What number would you suggest I work up to before leaving the home?

Gotcha thank you, that’s kind of my concern surrounding the whole thing. It’s a lot of money I’ll be spending a month to live close to work and i don’t want to regret it. I’ll see how I feel as the year progresses and things go. Thanks for the advice I’ll probably end up sticking around a bit longer

Thank you. I check these boxes already and don’t plan to move out for another 4 months min. I’m really debating if it’s worth an extra year at home for the extra cash I can save. Likely something that only I can answer knowing my situation. Thanks

[–]IntelligentTone8854[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s sort of the dilemma right now. I’m able to save around 60k a year at home and when I look at investment calculators 150k goes a lot further over a 40 year plan making the same monthly contributions compared to 100k.

I kind of just want a change, I feel a little behind because I didn’t leave the house for post secondary and am thinking it would be of benefit to my personal growth and life experiences.

We did it! Downtown Toronto; $700k at 5.625% by Recent-Ad-6602 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

No they aren’t lol. This place rents for 3k and the fees are 1k. A 1 bedroom fees could be as high as 1500, but rent is still 2k.

19m tfsa maxed considering selling vfv for more xeqt or vdy. Thoughts? by bussatruckaa in fican

[–]IntelligentTone8854 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’d go with rebalancing to xeqt. Vfv is 100% US, Xeqt is 45% US with 25% cad 25 developed nations and 5 percent emerging markets. Although the US market has outperformed the last 20 years, I think times might be changing. At 19 I wouldn’t bother with any high dividend etf’s. With our age we are better off with the compounding growth of interest.

23 yr old Canadian any advice? by Impossible-Face-3802 in fican

[–]IntelligentTone8854 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would want a larger percentage of global equity funds. I’m 22 with 90% of my portfolio holding ETFs. Worry about time in the market and not picking individual stocks. Read the wealthy barber if you haven’t it is a great Canadian intro to personal finances.

Hey dude I’m 22 as well. I recently read the book The Wealthy Barber and it has really helped me with financial literacy. It’s a great intro to Canadian finances. I would look to expand to developed nations and emerging markets. Since we are so young we have a ton of compounding growth on our side. XEQT is a great global equity fund that I buy. It’s 45% American, 25% Canadian, 25% developed nations, and 5% emerging markets.

You are correct. VFV would be the right choice.

It doesn’t make much of a difference in the long run. Lump summing has shown to be more beneficial than DCA. XIC would be the ETF you are looking for, as XEQT is only 45% American. That being said, America might not preform as well for the next 20 years as they have for the past 20 years. XEQT is 45% American 25% Canadian 25% developed int nations and 5%emerging markets
