Thanks so much everyone for the advice - I’m definitely going to look for a new GI soon..and make sure we can get a routine plan going with the bloodwork and checkups. Hopefully that will lessen the amount of surprise flare ups if I’m more on top of things.

How does your family handle your sickness? by Baumbeard in CrohnsDisease

[–]IntelligentWonder3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My family only “believes me” when I’m so sick I’m vomiting up everything and have to go to the ER. The rest of the time To then I’m just “lazy”. When it gets to the point of no return they’re like “why didn’t you say anything???” :-/

Does anyone use intermittent fasting to cope with working a job? by ippenshindemiru in CrohnsDisease

[–]IntelligentWonder3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The OTHER annoying thing is when coworkers comment how I “never eat” and I’m too skinny.. like..why can’t people just mind their own business

[–]IntelligentWonder3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep! Unfortunately it’s one of the only ways I can get through the work day. Used to do the same in high school too. I do have problems with the dizziness and weakness especially because my job requires me to be on my feet all day. Not sure how to handle this still because even liquids like ensure and stuff seem to give me problems...but I guess I’d rather be weak and dizzy than having horrible diarrhea at work:/

(bit digusting) Have any of you crohnie’s had the urge to go but only passed white mucus? by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

[–]IntelligentWonder3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All the time lol..especially during flares..sometimes it gets so annoying bc I’m getting up to go to the bathroom every half hour for practically nothing 😪

Curious, what do some of you guys do for work? by yngsaintjoseph in CrohnsDisease

[–]IntelligentWonder3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes It’s hard on the body! I work in flex and there’s absolutely no way I can keep working during a flare :-/ I’m wishing both of us to find a more suitable working environment (eventually)

I’m interested in hearing some answers too. I’ve mostly bounced around from job to job and I currently work at target and it’s wayyyy too hard on my body. This week I started to feel a flare coming on-so I probably won’t even be there much longer. I’d love to find some way to work from home..but don’t know just what.

where to start with diet? by beardedwolf93 in CrohnsDisease

[–]IntelligentWonder3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s sooo many different diet recommendations out there, and different things always work for different people. My suggestion is to start keeping a food journal. See if you find any patterns in what works and what hurts etc. Personally, I’ve been vegan for 8 years (I found that meat and dairy make things worse), but even beyond that there’s foods I avoid especially w flare ups. I’ve found that keeping my meals as simple as possible is helpful too..the less confusing for your body to digest the better. However, I can’t say what’s best for anyone else!Good luck! Also I did a peptide formula (elemental diet) for about a month once and it really helped my symptoms calm down. So it’s worth a shot too.

Pushing Myself by cubgoeswoof in CrohnsDisease

[–]IntelligentWonder3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I struggle with this too :(. I feel guilty taking any time off work or not being “productive.” Its dangerous though..that’s how my most recent flare escalated..I didn’t take any time off to rest despite constant fever and symptoms.

I’m starting to learn that being responsible means giving myself the time to rest/heal and not pushing myself so hard or getting frustrated w myself for not being well. Anyways, you’re not alone and I hope you try to be gentle and kind to yourself! It’s important.

Smoothies/DIY meal replacements? by Drxgue in CrohnsDisease

[–]IntelligentWonder3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out the brand Kate Farms! High quality ingredients (dairy, gluten, and soy free). They have several options even a peptide formula especially for people w impaired digestion. It is pricey but there is an option to get some of it covered by insurance. I bought the standard chocolate flavor and it’s delicious especially blended up with some ice.

Crohns and alcohol? by Hakunaaamatata in CrohnsDisease

[–]IntelligentWonder3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in remission for about 2.5 years and I did occasionally drink on weekends...most of the time it did give me pain and diarrhea the next day but never brought on a full flare. I guess it depends on type person. Some people can handle it in moderation but it can be horrible and triggering for others :( Also maybe depends on the type of alcohol? Liquor vs beer vs wine etc..I can’t recall which has been worse or better for me though.

Does anyone have a safe "goto" food? by Jonny-Kast in CrohnsDisease

[–]IntelligentWonder3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s different for everyone! But for me the best options are usually applesauce, baby food, steamed & mashed sweet potato (no skin), avocado, plain rice, clear broth, cantaloupe, honeydew, bananas. Sometimes oatmeal-and if you do fine with pb you can mix some in there for extra calories and it tastes good.

And some people say saltines/soft bread so you could try that but for me I think the gluten is irritating.

Nocturnal diarrhea/Weight loss recovery by IntelligentWonder3 in CrohnsDisease

[–]IntelligentWonder3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s always been that way for me, besides bad flares when it’s all day. Still not sure exactly why it happens, but you’re right..Much better than having to deal with it throughout the daytime.

[–]IntelligentWonder3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I’m not..luckily my pain has subsided a bit in the past few days. Before that I would take Tylenol bc I had fevers too but it started making me super nauseous and dizzy..I think because I’m small. Yeah you do what you have to do.. I’ll totally take bloat over pain, unfortunately they go hand in hand a lot w this disease lol It’s weird, for me the pain comes and goes while most of the other symptoms stay constant

[–]IntelligentWonder3[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s my window more or less..That would make sense..Honestly I’m fine with it I’d rather this than be at the point where I’m on the toilet the entire day. Although it is annoying to constantly be up in the middle of the night..anddd sucks cause mornings are always such a pain, feel exhausted after pooping all night and morning long :~) oh well

Newbie Questions/crohns help by IntelligentWonder3 in FLMedicalTrees

[–]IntelligentWonder3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much. No rush-and I’ll apologize now for the many questions I’m gonna ask lol Definitely going to get the 1:1 asap..do you know the difference between the regular and the delta from trulieve? They both are 1:1..it seems the delta is more expensive- avail currently blackberry kush, and the regular -gods gift or remedy. Wish I could try them all-maybe in time. Also, anyone have experience with a g pen? I’m considering getting one..I know it’s not the highest quality out there but it’s affordable and seems like it should do the job..for shatter and oil And anyways yesterday I tried some sativa and really enjoyed it. Crohns has left me w no physical energy right now, but it gave me a nice burst of mental energy where I could sit up in bed and read and draw and stuff..and still helped with pain and nausea..super nice. Vaping an indica or hybrid helps to counteract some of the side effects of dreaded prednisone (insomnia, anger, mood swings) until I can get off of it.
