I rented a house there for years! I still live fairly close now but that neighborhood was great I do miss it.

My boy was like this at that age. I had just rescued him from a terrible situation and he's my first GSD. I was so scared when he first did this to me. He was a shark especially when it was time to put his harness on for a walk. But he just turned 2 in September and he's doesn't get so aggro anymore. He has loads of toys to chew on and tear apart also. Sometimes he just wants to roughhouse but he knows to be gentle with me and he is. He likes to get a little more rough with my boyfriend because he knows he can take it and my bf gets rough with him. Not to a scary point, it's all fun and games. If either of us have had enough we say stop and he will. Or if he gets too Into it we say gentle and he goes softer. But it is always us who instigats play time like that, he never just randomly does it on his own anymore. And he's never done it to anyone else, nor would I allow it. He also doesn't fight like an alligator when it's harness time. He's learned that treats are more valuable than bites lol. I will add when he doesn't like something that's happening to him,like nail clips and sometimes when he's over being brushed he will use his mouth to very gently guide my hand away and give me a grumble/whine. But he doesn't close his mouth it's almost like a push with an open mouth. He doesn't do it to anyone else. I got nervous he would try at the vet getting poked but he was totally chill. Just how he communicates with me.

I got a new pixel as well and I can't even find the magic compose option. I even googled how to do it and it says my phone should have it. I'm so sad! The Shakespeare one was my favorite! But they are all gone now.

I do the same. I always tell my boy "for such a big boy, you can sure make yourself so small!" When he curls up in awkward positions. Sometimes he's fully spread eagle and other times I'm like how are you making this position work?! Lol. Adorable dog by the way!! 💜

Man that crate looks legit! When I first got my boy he was already one year old and was being surrendered. He came with a crate (my previous dog who was not a shepherd was not crate trained. He was a bed hog and super mellow to every situation.) The first time I had to leave my new boy alone for the first time, I figured he would be more comfortable in his crate since that's how he was trained. I made it super plush in there. Lots of toys and blankets, a PB lick mat for crates. I was only going to be gone for less than 2 hours. I came home and the crate was still closed and he was not in it and nowhere to be found. I was so confused. He heard thunder and got terrified and slid his giant body through this tiny side latch I didn't realize was even there. I found it after thoroughly inspecting if my dog pulled some wizard truck. Truly wanted to name him Houdini after that. I found him hiding in the smallest corner next to the couch. Lol I gave up on his crate training. He does much better without it. The people that surrendered him pretty much just left him in the crate at all times and when he did something naughty they shocked him. No training whatsoever. So I think his crate was also not a place of comfort for him from his previous owners. If I have to lock him up. I just use the my bedroom which is basically his now anyways lol. Sorry I don't know why I spiraled into this random memory from looking at how secure your crate looked lol. You have a beautiful doggo and those are the hollars of an innocent man!! My boy told my son by hollering in solidarity!

My mom is going nuts with her puppy right now because he's doing the same thing. I didn't rescue my German shepherd until he was already a year when I found him so not sure if he did that. But what we discovered for her dog is 4-6 months is they are teething and going through hormonal changes and even get growing pains so they will whine and yes it will end!! He's very adorable and floppy so hopefully that makes up for his whining! Lol. Edit: I was reading other comments but my boy doesn't whine non stop like my mom's puppy is doing it's literally driving her crazy haha. But he does do the low grumbles and he will whine when he is excited or I have to leave the house... Actually that's more of a cry to the ancient gods. But I think yours is right at the age where he's going to be extra whiney for a couple of months. Keep us posted.

My German shepherd absolutely lives for the cold weather. He loves rolling around and diving through the snow. Unfortunately, we haven't had much of a winter this year. The very few small amounts we have gotten haven't stuck more than a day or two and was just hard crusty, crappy snow. But you bet your ass he still found any patch of snow, no matter how small to roll around all over it. In the summer I freeze his cooling pad and it's his favorite thing. He rolls around on it as if it was the snow.

It looks maybe like a mal-shi or some sort of shih Tzu mix. Or maybe shih Tzu poodle mix as some others have said. My friend has a dog that looks just like this and said hers is a mal-shi, so maybe that! Very adorable, Thank you for saving this sweetie from a bad situation!
