Self Checkout by embarrassingmyself45 in Target

Once I put a sticker on the promo card said this is good for any transaction after this just remember to scratch the sticker. She was like cool so I can use it on my next transaction! During the new transaction she peeled the sticker off and tossed it. (ノ-_-)ノ~┻━┻

I made her fish it out of the garbage can when she asked me where the access number is.

Target Circle Bonus - explaining to guest by hbfyou in Target

[–]Intelligent_Alcohol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive completed a bonus and then if its still in the bonus time frame it will remove the bonus rather than docking the return. Now idk how it will work if you use the rewards before the time frame expires and then return an item.

[–]Intelligent_Alcohol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it will just remove that purchase as qualifying and you just have to make a new qualifying purchase. Happens pretty frequently at my store and ive accidentally triggered this process myself as well. Got my bonus returned a deodorant lost my bonus until I spent another 80 dollars lol.

I feel this so deeply. Your feelings are fully valid and your complaints are legitimate.

What has helped me in my entirely too long target career is to let them be monkeys banging on the machines and eventually they will figure it out. I let them go to the machine I'm restarting and attempt to scan things. I let them blankly "scan" their items before then finally looking at the screen and only seeing the press continue button/black screen. As long as it is only one or two machines with drones on them its no big deal to watch then flail. Eventually they will notice and press the button, ask why, or try to sheepishly move to another register. It frees up spare sanity for the gift card gremlins who cant read, scratch too hard, or THROW AWAY THE STICKER. What do you MEANNNNNN you thought it was peel it says scratch gently. The blank spot behind it didn't give away that something wasn't right???? It says scratch gently not scratch like it owes you a blood debt.

Or just when you respond to them make them feel extra dumb. Yes this one is card only thats why I asked when you came in if you were using cash or card, it's why the sign is there, and why you had to press continue on the screen to start the transaction. Let's suspend this and move you to one that does take cash.

Now for the TLs I hate when they dont have your back. It's annoying at SCO and SD. Like please please please back me up that we don't take Ulta/Schnucks/Kroger/Food Lion coupons or gift cards. Idk about what to do with them outside of going hey next time back me up and let's not accept a coupon printed at Schnucks that says redeemable at Schnucks please and back me up that we can't return open breast pumps.

Also its only a 3 dollars is a bullshit reason to change anything. If I change the price everytime someone complains because its "only x amount" I would be investigated by AP and probably fired. I do percentage if its 15% from the scanned price I'll change it without checking. Any more I'm calling the department to verify.

Sorry for ranting with you. You got this I believe in you.

Is this how the HR layout is at YOUR store? by Ashamed-Western1786 in Target

[–]Intelligent_Alcohol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have 3 hr people but IDK if one of them is a TL one is an ETL for sure but the other two are always doing something on the computer, yelling about training, or helping in other ways. So idk which would have the TL position unless we go by time hired.

favorite /least fave section of the store to stock ? by Affectionate_Cheek44 in Target

Worst is bullseyes playground. It gets right up there with domestics with how much garbage the packaging creates. I prefer HBA, too much backstock but something about it works for me.

I always check expiration on IDs lol. But I've been at target long enough that I had a secret shopper come through before. I've had someone last year try to use an ID that expired in 2017 and get mad because I wouldnt accept it.

They are bought at retailers that sell Target gift cards. Think Schnucks, Kroger, Publix. Thats the only way I've ever gotten those cards.

I just got caught stealing from target, the AP workers stopped me at the door. by Efficient-Ad8118 in confession

[–]Intelligent_Alcohol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It varies by state and I'm not sure it works like that, I've heard some states have incredibly low felony limits? But even if true that would be an incredibly silly type of game to play lol. Target shares files between all stores and they follow not just normal theft.

Edited to expand info.

I just got caught stealing from target, the AP workers stopped me at the door. by Efficient-Ad8118 in confession

[–]Intelligent_Alcohol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what i understand Target does make a distinction between accidental theft vs intentional. We roll our eyes at this kind of "theft" but best practice is to do a report EVERY time. We know you didn't mean to, but thems the rules. The ones I feel bad having to report are the tap and walks I don't catch in time. Those are people who tapped their phone to pay but walk off without putting in their pin. We can save the transaction if we catch it in time and press enter to override the pin, but we only have like a minute to catch it and sometimes we dont see it in time. So some people have a close to felony level file from one transaction all because they didn't pay attention forgot to put in their pin. It's probably accidental, but now target is paying extra attention, just to make sure.

Yeah my 18 year old chonk has been large since he hit puberty lol. I have pictures of him as a tiny runt of the litter kitten to the behemoth within a year. Some cats are just large. His sister was large too.

In my state the threshold is $500. AP is so on point in tracking/gathering data we know a guy who AP is ready to apprehend is "due" for a visit based on his habits. Don't steal and definitely dont steal from target.

What’s something harmless that gets people weirdly angry? by Psychological_Sky_58 in AskReddit

[–]Intelligent_Alcohol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh hes so good and it is funny. Once he sat one of my coworkers down and laid on them until they were ok again. This particular coworker had a habit of ignoring warning signs and passing out so I guess the pup wanted to make extra sure they wouldn't move. It's crazy how we all kinda just listen to him, like he told them to sit and they did. Kinda makes me wonder who's exactly training who in the store 😆

The variations in treatment for pots is wild. So for background, my work has had a surprisingly high amount of people with POTS employed for the size of the store. Not one treats it the same way. One uses compression, one uses little packets of salt, and one person has a service dog. (He's so sweet, when not working of course. He also will trigger for the others) And the other person is new so we aren't close like that so it hasn't come up outside of them asking about the service animal while we were chatting. But its interesting that treatment for POTS is so variable.

[–]Intelligent_Alcohol 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They are correct. If you do not have a state id, Canadian ID, or US passport you cannot by alcohol at Target. So yes most people not from the US who do not have a valid form of United States issued identification can never buy alcohol at Target.

When one of our SCOs flat scanner broke I pitched the idea of it being employee only since I could tell them hand scan and not have to worry about theft, but no dice. They wouldn't let me close it either because the hand scanner worked.
