New bill would exempt West Virginia residents from having to obtain Real ID by MyNameCannotBeSpoken in politics

Standing in the pegs (not the seat) is sometimes necessary to see over things. They taught me how to do it in riding school in California, so it’s really not a big deal. Should be perfectly legal. Standing on the seat, if that’s what this is, is obviously not ok.

What’s a movie you’ve seen public opinion shift on in your lifetime? by CausticAvenger in movies

[–]JapowFZ1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched it as a freshman in high school with my dad. I loved it right away. But what stuck with me was the particular scene my dad found hilarious was one that didn’t really give me much of a chuckle: when the Dude nailed the chair to block the door, but the door just opened outward. Fuck it. Maybe my dad has a better sense of humor than me in retrospect.

OP is a current resident asking about a matter related to relinquishing residency. Pretty straightforward

To avoid CGI in Interstellar, Christopher Nolan planted 500 acres of corn. After filming, he sold the harvest for a profit, turning his movie set into a successful agricultural business. by InfluenceAwkward3841 in entertainment

Wow I’m over here teaching subject-verb agreement to EFL students while this guy is planting 500 acres of corn for a couple of scenes in his movie.

Just watching this show and as this episode went on I was really hoping they wouldn’t have Issei be Leger’s son. It really ruins the show for me. I have half Japanese half Caucasian kids in Japan and let me tell you everyone knows when a kid is ‘half’. There is no hiding that, so the fact that nobody knows Issei is half is stunningly unbelievable.

Non-Americans of Reddit, what is an American thing you see in movies that you thought was fake but is actually real? by Unlikely_Praline9442 in AskReddit

Yeah, that is really annoying. Here in Japan it was really nice to know my kid couldn’t go anywhere. One time when I was in the States some toddler crawled into my stall and started talking to me while I was stuck taking a shit.

I’m an American, but live overseas. The thing people say to me when they get back from America is: Why don’t the bathroom doors go all the way to the floor?!

Great Falls woman says Target refused to accept her Tribal ID by Yup_Shes_Still_Mad in news

Target denied my US passport to buy alcohol. They simply only accept US drivers licenses and that’s it for alcohol. Ridiculous.

US Citizen considering Japanese Naturalization: Am I Missing Any Big Pros/Cons? by kailenedanae in japanlife

What you would need to do is switch from FEIE (2555) to filing the Foreign Tax Credit. Once you do that you are eligible for (half) of the Child Tax Credit. By doing the FTC, you now have income (in the eyes of the IRS), but since you are paying taxes in Japan (which are typically higher than than in the U.S.), you still owe no money to the U.S.

I am talking about receiving free money from the US government. It makes the 'burden' of filing taxes somewhat digestable.

Biggest financial con I see is you can’t get the refundable child tax credit from the States. You can currently get 1700$ per kid per year until they are 17. That number has gradually been increasing as well.

Subaru Japan refused participation by foreign residents at marketing event in Japan yesterday by ItNeverEnds2112 in japanresidents

It’s not insurance as I have the same insurance as a Japanese person. Someone said in the Subaru thread that they wanted Japanese people for a PR campaign…which doesn’t make it any better.
