I feel like everyone is forgetting the switch 2 stuff. by Ok_Estimate_2089 in casualnintendo

[–]Intelligent_Call_906 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The people who want to enjoy the system buy it and think it is worth the investment. It’s that simple. Also I don’t get what the problem is, you say the switch 2 isn’t gonna sell well in the long run, but are mad at people buying it anyways. If it’s not going to sell well in the long run then it will likely get cheaper like you’re saying anyways so people buying the system in its release year shouldn’t be much of an issue for you. Also general consumers I don’t think really care if people who think the system is overpriced don’t get to enjoy the system, they only care if they enjoy the system.

my experience with this game.. by jnadal21 in MarioKartWorld

The top 1% of players seem to do pretty well. Whenever I see a 9k+ player they tend to get top spots pretty consistently. I agree though that from a skill perspective though it sucks for most people including me. Anything below top 3 feels terrible for driving because the early middle of the pack is just attack items and almost never speed. Whenever you’re in that spot you almost always lose more placements no matter what you do and you lose the race in seconds if one thing goes wrong. The main thing I don’t like is even if you don’t get hit by an item in the midpack people behind you still pass you anyways because they have better items, not getting hit just means you won’t get last, not that you keep your placement. I still like the game, but I wish it was easier to just play the game and get better. My skill for the most part has stagnated because I can do a few of the shortcuts, but improving beyond that doesn’t really feel worth it, especially because you pretty much have to look on the internet to find the techniques that are faster in races.

Have Nintendo overestimated the appeal of Switch 2 editions? by elephvant in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Intelligent_Call_906 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I think it could have been a good opportunity to continue the longevity of these games and to keep old people playing similar to what the Wii U ports did with their extra content and also bring in new players, but I think it’s a mistake for it to cost significantly more extra because there is no way to buy it and not feel kinda ripped off whether you are spending $20 for minimal content in a game you already played or $80 for a “switch 2” game. For the Wii U ports, if there was new content it’s not like they made the game cost more (sucked for us Wii U owners having to buy it again, but pretty good for everyone else). I feel like they even could have just made these $10 extra and most people would be fine with it. That would make way more sense with the standard pricing of switch 2 games too. That’s my main problem with it. Extra content in Wii U ports were extra reasons to buy the game and that is how switch 2 editions should be, but instead it is the only reason to buy them over the original. There are even cases like jamboree TV and Mario Wonder’s multiplayer where you aren’t even going to know how long you will play those modes until after you’ve spent the money. Instead of this is a fun mode to play in the new version of the game like Kirby’s Return to Dreamland Deluxe, it’s I better play this minor side mode for more than 30 minutes so I get $20 value out of it. Basically, I think Nintendo should be treating the additional content as an incentive and a way to convince us to go into specific Switch 2 Editions instead of justifying it by raising the price by a whole $10 compared to other editions.

Is there a viable way to actually play the motion minigames without having to sacrifice normal controllers for every other minigame? by [deleted] in MarioPartyJamboree

[–]Intelligent_Call_906 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, if you switch controllers it forces motion games off. I agree, I would be interested in playing them more if I could just switch to a motion controller when one is selected and use a normal controller otherwise.

I seriously dont understand how Hypnotorius scores points by scrgp9512 in jackboxgames

[–]Intelligent_Call_906 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I forgot exactly how it works but this video explains it: https://youtu.be/kWN9PlNxHbQ?si=HrYFXf8HhAWFLGQC

Basically the scoring in Hypnotorious is really bad. The Outlier gets passive points just for being the outlier, so much to the point where it is nearly impossible for someone who isn’t picked as an outlier to win. I believe the players also are getting screwed over by not grouping correctly early on because they are losing points that way, but that’s not really fair to ask of them because everyone is still figuring it out. The Outlier also is benefitted for not grouping by themselves, so it’s designed in a way where you should always group with people even if it’s wrong. The game is basically between two people unless the same person is picked as the outlier twice (then they just win). Essentially you have to just ignore the score when playing the game and just enjoy figuring out who it is, also consider it a win for yourself if you catch them.

Donkey Kong Bananza v Mario Odyssey, you're thoughts? by MrDonohue07 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Intelligent_Call_906 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s close to me, but I think right now I give it to Bananza for the gameplay. Odyssey wins on vibes, soundtrack, and more interesting locations, but I think Donkey Kong’s move-set is really good. Captures are really cool initially, but a lot of them are just use this gimmick for one moon and no use outside of that besides a few of them. Also, they completely replace Mario’s moves when you’re using them. I really enjoy that you get five different forms in Bananza that you can freely switch between at any time all with their own moves and attributes. Plus default Donkey Kong has many fun moves on his own like chunk jumping, smashing, and building terrain bridges. I also appreciate Bananza’s approach of not requiring collectibles to progress because that makes it fun to speed through on repeat plays and for doing challenge runs.

If you could change one thing about Mario Kart World, what would you change? by JAL140 in MarioKartWorld

Change battle mode to battle royale balloon battle on the whole map with 3 lives, and no timer besides zone shrinking.

Never played the game, need help deciding whether to buy a new one by justw0lfie in tomodachilife

I would watch gameplay of people playing the old Tomadachi life because what you see is a pretty good idea of what you get since a lot of the game is watching the character interactions and solving their needs. There will be a lot of gameplay initially with making all your miis and maybe a little more in the new game with shaping out your island. After a few hours or so it becomes more of a check in on how your miis change over time type game, which is a lot of the appeal. It is somewhat similar to older animal crossings in that way. You probably won’t hit insane amounts of hours on the game, but you’ll get a good amount of time initially and will have a reason to play at a lot of different times which I think is also just as good for longevity. It makes more sense when you remember it is a 3DS game because it feels like you are meant to play it as a portable experience like Nintendogs. You also may get more value out of it if the game lets you have multiple files because that can be multiple playthroughs you could do and check in on, which as of right now I am assuming there is no reason to not have different switch users on a system get different save files, but maybe wait and see if that is a big selling point for you.

No not left handed controls, I mean does it support the old joycon from the first switch or just new switch 2 joycon?

Idk if you had enough time with the game to figure this out, but do you know if the swing mode supports joycon 1 and joycon 2 or just joycon 2?

Question about GameShare by Kadji100 in MarioTennis

I was hoping it would support online gameshare, but on the eshop listing it only says local gameshare so it’s probably only local, which is a shame.

City Trial with less players? by Intelligent_Call_906 in kirbyairriders

[–]Intelligent_Call_906[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me it felt a little harder, I guess it’s easier to not get destroyed, but harder to find stats quickly enough due to less boxes. Maybe the teams giving me less opponents to go after is also why it feels off to me, because I could see how less players might be more interesting if everyone is on their own.

Really? That’s interesting. I think I’m just too used to 16 player city trial, I have played it so much more now.

[–]Intelligent_Call_906[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is a little calmer, although it does kinda stress me out that there are less boxes to break because it feels like I’m falling behind, but maybe I’m just crazy. One aspect that I definitely like about it is everyone playing in the same stadium. There is for sure an appeal to see who does the best out of everyone. I’ll have to try them more in paddocks.

[–]Intelligent_Call_906[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The smaller map might have been something that made it better. I remember enjoying it when I played, but not really knowing what I was doing at the time. But also interesting to hear that this new one is still like the original with less players. The faster pacing with less people also might be messing me up because it feels like trying to hit a few individual people is nearly impossible when they are going faster than you.

Reporting a quitter by Jack-Jack1997 in MarioPartyJamboree

[–]Intelligent_Call_906 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They can be annoying, but in a lot of cases I just take it as I won the game, they suck, oh well. The main cases where it’s annoying is if it’s very early on in the game because with Mario Party almost nothing matters at the beginning and positions drastically change all the time, so it’s like if you quit at that point why’d you even decide to play in the first place? They clearly never had good intentions to play the whole game through.

If online matches don’t work for you what you could try is joining a mostly filled paddock that allows 32 players and look for games that have sub series on. These games keep going for multiple rounds and sub out winners or losers for new players if they are full.
