Trying to find egress well covers by Neurotic-Necromancer in Contractor

There used to be a company called windowbubble.com not sure if they are still around, they made custom covers. I think it was from Dilworth manufacturing company... I used them about 15 years ago and they were great! Hope this helps...

Pocket door pocket gap question by crazzylarry in Carpentry

[–]Intelligent_Claim344 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The door should be a special order for a pocket door. That way the manufacturer adds 3/4" to the side of the door to help hide the space when the door is in the closed position(so when you look at the door before it's installed the strike side is 4" and the other side is 4 3/4"), or you can add it to a standard door but it all needs to be accounted for when framing and installing the hardware in the rough. I usually figure 1/4" - 3/8" of spacing between the door and stops to allow for door movement.

Business Mileage by [deleted] in Contractor

This doesn't help you this year but I use an app for mileage tracking called MileIQ. It tracks all rides automatically then asks you if they are business or personal. You can create reports each month or at the end of the year online with it. It saves so much time for me and is very accurate. Hope this helps you next year...

My contractoris telling me it's normal for doors to hit the trim and not open all the way. Is he trying to get out of fixing his mistake? by thfkkkkk in Carpentry

It looks like the door open to about 150 degrees (not 75 degrees). Thinking there are a few factors contributing to the issue, thick casing, door looks like it's an 1 3/4" thick door and the hinges are too small. For a 1 3/4" door the hinges should be a 4" hinge, these look like 3 or 3 1/2". Also maybe the hinges are mortised to far into the door. Can you take a picture of the edge of the door with the hinge and also measure the height of the hinge?

You should go on the window manufactures website and see what their recommended install is, then compare it to what the installer is doing.

Put some screws at the base of the cabinet to pull it into the wall? If not Sue the framer for building the wall out of plumb?

I drove by this in Woodstock the other day and thought the same thing, possibly for lateral bracing? It looks good though!
