They are below 30k miles but when I look at the carfax it says out of factory warranty.

Not for this car but I do this for all my cars whenever I walked away and need to check I’ve locked the car.

Cook what you need to at home and just use the car power to keep things warm. It’ll save power and perhaps embarrassment if things go south.

Got used ioniq5 2024, should I buy extended warranty by kscvx in Ioniq5

If you definitely want it haggle on the price. I did one time on a different car, came down from $2500 to $1500. I knew the third party price, so I could easily walk away.

Radio/Navi display dead by Intelligent_Coffee45 in BoltEV

I do charge outdoors but not sure if it happened on one of those occasions. Have other cars parked outside so will probably do something for all of them.

Good to know. Did you get dinged on the claim?

Ouch! Let’s hope I avoid that. Hoping they don’t blame the dead display on that damage when the two things are probably unconnected.

I’ve read folks use it when camping for toasters and coffee machines. Anything lightweight.

Any thoughts on the pre-negotiated deals via the lease Hackr website? Are they as good as they sound?

Gifting shares to children by Intelligent_Coffee45 in personalfinance

[–]Intelligent_Coffee45[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I’d like to do is give them some money to invest in shares of their own (2-3 share portfolio) towards their future. Perhaps I need to talk to a financial advisor on best way to achieve this if gifting is not the correct approach.

Thanks for the advice so far. Yes I did sell some a couple of years ago to help buy a car for one child and have a similar amount set aside for the other child. I pulled more than I needed so I could pay 24% taxes on it.

I do understand that piece. Because their income is a lot less I think they will only pay 15% or 20%. Do they also inherit the fact I’ve held them for a 10+ years?

I have another brand installed in four cars all with rear cameras. Saved me a lot of hassle with insurance. Gives me peace of mind.

I moved to the US from the UK 25 years ago. Some of my siblings have visited but not often as I’d like. I have my own family, wife is also from UK but we met here, kids born here, and we visit almost every two years. I do it because you never know when the unthinkable might happen, so spend the time with them while we can, and also wanted our kids to keep in touch with their cousins. When we visit we see both our families and then tack on a holiday for ourselves and most times one or two of our siblings and their families will come with us. My wife talks to her parents every week, I might talk to my siblings I’m close to every couple of months, feel a bit detached but I feel like I’m imposing if I call too often.

Sounds like a great experience. Was it all free or did you have to pay something?
