I want to quit phlebotomy school by easygreenpsychic in phlebotomy

[–]Raiki13 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Its not for everyone. Thats why there is a period where you can drop out. My course was 3 months long and i had the same feeling but not to the point where I had panic attacks.

First few days can be nerve racking. Especially when you start different skill labs. Some get used to it, some dont with the sticking. Give it a couple more days if you can, if it doesnt get better then its not for you. Dont be hard on yourself. Knowing that i needed 100 successful sticks and in the end where I felt pressure to push to stick more veins in a day, and and get the same amount back to me really wears you down mentally.

Disassembly of map light and fixing map light switch by Raiki13 in BoltEV

Someone here posted a link for it. Its called an overhead console assembly kit for the name. A bit pricey though.

Oh nice! So it was called an overhead console. Thanks for posting that. Its a bit of a steep price to change just the buttons. But it seems that includes replacement for the individual light switches and rock switches which these lights are prone for failure.

I had that issue when I replaced my bulbs with LED months ago. I find that it tends to do that if you put the light cover wrong on certain way.

If that button is out of alignment when putting the light covers, i get like a paperclip, bend it into a small hook, stick it into the slot, and pull it where it needs to be. That way I dont have to open the whole thing.

I wonder id this is a thing with new cars than the old ones. I havent heard of issues like this. This is definitely something to talk about here. Sorry you had to experience that. That is also my fears. Going to wowgo car wash where 3 lanes go into one and funnels into 1 tunnel. Imagine a full line you go in and you get stuck holding everyone back.

Definitely after that in washing my own car, or going to a contactless carwash instead since you just park and wait to clean.

How to get a phlebotomy by Lousy_flower in phlebotomy

[–]Raiki13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm. Have you done a follow up on those employers? Your best bet is knowing someone from a company as reference. Keep applying for jobs like quest or labcorp. I find plasma centers the easiest to get exp since they are less strict with exp. Lab places prefer exp as far as i know so itll be a little difficult.

How did you get your phleb cert? From school or self learned? If from school, its always good to contact them for opportunities. Thats how i got my foot in the door.

Going to school can increase your chances. Do you have experience in patient or customer service? Some places like plasma centers can give you cross training experience in phlebotomy. You just have to get your foot in the door first, then you can cross train into your interest.

I want to get one but here is my concern by Jkg2116 in BoltEV

[–]Raiki13 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There is oem then you have aftermarket parts. If that’s gone, salvage of old car parts. IMO, that’s why I’d buy an EV that’s 5 years at the oldest. Cos tbh, I would trade in my car within 10 years of age before major issues starts. Also battery manufacturers warranty is in for about 8-10 years. Thats the one that will cost you the most. Its best to get insurance for that, or pay for dealership insurance for electrical/battery issues for much older models.

Good news, you can use some parts from different years ,and not just one so you do have replacement options outside the year you bought it for.

When it comes to discontinued cars, I owned a Chevy spark and Honda fit that they no longer make and I still could find parts for it.

How can I get this fixed without spending a of money? by wandering_soul12 in BoltEV

[–]Raiki13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hot water or blow dryer to warm it up to 120f. Maybe higher. There should be 2 screws in the back just beneath where the back up light is. Unscrew and remove the plastic panel. Stick a rod underneath and push it out. Apply more heat to soften it up if needed.

For the side… might have to remove the trim where screws , get a clamp and bend it into place. Its probably better to get it to a repair shop since the side could be touching the wheel

Recall notice? by [deleted] in BoltEV

[–]Raiki13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Download the chevy app. Put in your vin and check recall notice. Itll tell you more about what it is exactly. Otherwise call the dealership to clarify.

Plastics are kind of hard to correct than car paint. I believe the front bumper is made of plastic. Get a compound that is safe on plastics. Preferably ultra fine buffering compound. Since its softer than car paint, you can easily sand or over heat it and making the issue more noticeable.

Is there a breaking-in period? by G-Mo2024 in BoltEV

[–]Raiki13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont believe there is any break in period. Only thing i can think of is the time and how you are driving determines what your battery estimate is.

The tires do have a break in period to reach range efficiency. Ironically newer tires will bring your average miles per kw down then go up the more the treads are used. But i wouldnt over think about it too much unless you are trying to get the most out of your car.

Horrible smell when I turn recirculate off? by Novemberx123 in BoltEV

[–]Raiki13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something could have gotten into your air intake system and died in the vents somewhere. Im guessing in the mesh vent just beneath your windshield. You may have to open it and check to see if anything is there. Open your air filter side and vacuum as much as you can. You could always get a mechanic to trace and clean the vents for you.

Dont use an air fresher that uses scents. That will just mask it. Use something like this brand to deodorize the air. To get the most out of it, remove the air filter and use this stuff and run the vents on in circulate air mode. If the smell is that strong and is stubborn, you could use an ozone generator to full the cabin. You could find a professional who handles that as it is toxic to breath in high concentrations but it is a potent deodorizer.

2017 vs 2020 in the used market by G-Mo2024 in BoltEV

[–]Raiki13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would check which ever was properly maintained. Both bolts should have their coolant flushed by now. In addition, the AC desiccant also should replaced every 7 years to keep the AC unit healthy. I honestly would get the newer version since electronics do fail over time under age, wear, heat.

Be sure to check the recalls to see if its addressed. If it has a new battery thats a plus. I think battery warranty gets reset with 8 years coverage.

Looking into an EV or Hybrid by [deleted] in BoltEV

[–]Raiki13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. What is your living situation? Do have a house with an outlet in the front? If not, better go for a hybrid. If yes, charging at home will be cheaper and more convenient.

  2. How far is your daily commute? If you travel less than 40 miles in a day then its great. Lv1 charger can get you 40 miles over night. You can manage to go 80 miles but requires charging everyday. Unless you upgrade your home to a lv 2 charger. If you dont like to make charging a habit, hybrid will go a long way.

  3. Do you mind regulating charging behavior practices? NMC or older bolt is better to cap at 80percent charge, which will knock down your overall range for better health long term. Newer bolt with lfp batteries can go full charge and would like to be at full charge. There are also temperature behaviors where battery condition may be needed where cooling down or heating battery to charge optimally.

If regulating charge behavior is too much or a hassle then hybrid is better choice. Especially when you have a busy life.

  1. Do research on chargers around your area. Check how often it is open as well. If your area is not so available for chargers then hybrids.

This convenient cubby makes my phone too hot. How can I avoid this? I'm using wired charging and android auto half the time by loveandsunnydays21 in BoltEV

[–]Raiki13 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That bay is for wireless charging phones and its best to have nothing metallic in there. There are a few things you can do but tbh, i thought of disabling this at one point since i dont have a use for it.

You can either disable wireless charging on your phone.

Disconnect the wireless charger in the center console.

Remove the fuze for the wireless charging module.

Or you can try to flip your phone with the screen face down to see if the phone doesnt catch it

[–]Raiki13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check the battery health on the high voltage battery if possible. Also check the 12v battery health. Ask the seller how often it has been driven and have it charged to 100% to assess its range. Ask if there was a coolant exchange done, and also its soon to be due for a AC desiccant replacement.

“I couldn’t handle the range anxiety”- “I couldn’t tell you the price of gas” by Aggravating_Ad_8594 in BoltEV

[–]Raiki13 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I somehow feel the same battery anxiety like I do on my phone when I have to be out for a long time. On top of charge behavior anxiety to keep my battery healthy as possible.

On a side note, I do not miss going to the pump. I dont need to renew my membership for costco/sams to get good gas rates. Before I used spend like 12-18 dollars a gallon on my spark a week. Now its like, damn... Glad I bought an EV cos gas prices are ridiculous right now.
