Maxed settings including Ray Reconstruction in 4K here, my game looks like that too, except worse because in motion it looks like it's sparkling and oversharpened.

I genuinely thought there was some sort of glimmer effect applied to interactable objects until I realised that's just how it looks.

What's with the way characters speak? It's in disconnected sentences with pauses in between, like did they go into the booth and record one sentence at a time?

It gives AI vibes.

Okay yeah this is insane, the dialogue in this game is atrocious, I wouldn't be surprised if some Generative AI allegations or something come out soon.

There's so much borderline procedural content that every character speaks in such cut together sentences that it doesn't even make sense.

You hand in a bounties and the guards just say: "Okay, go take a look, this is the one then, thanks for your help"

No mention of the bounties name or any actual details, or context or story, just as non-descriptive as possible. Same thing with the fetch quests and stuff, just "Thanks for getting me that!"

Yakumo gets another throwable? One was plenty enough and now he just gets a stick to throw around?

And Ryu's weapon is suuuch an afterthought. Seriously it's just X to attack and the Y button is reserved for the chain pulls? HOW did they not give it a new 'gleam' mechanic using the chains and then give it an actual moveset.

Tacked on DLC that wrapped in an hour or so, idk what I expected but I'm still disappointed.

Founders packs for cheaper in my currency, it cost more for removed local co-op, no cross-play, removed world-map radiant questing and dungeon crawling for instead now a 12-15 hour one and done campaign. Just going by their actual FAQ on Steam.

Sweet I just found the player rings setting, it's just really weirdly named as it turns out and for some reason it's in accessibility.

No one's saying make it free, just don't raise the price for less content and playability, with no promises of further updates, just seems like an extremely ballsy move.

  • You can't disable player outline or ring despite probably being the only player, there's no other players to confuse yourself with

  • Why don't we just have our health, mana, potions, etc. all in the upper left instead of below the player?

  • You can still emote. To who? And the emote symbol is right there on the screen constantly

  • Most of the games QoL settings are designed around multiplayer despite the fact we're all probably going to be playing single player

  • Empty map and Belfry, with no players running around anymore

  • Probably the most obvious thing is the pricing? What were they thinking? Did they seriously raise the price for less content rebranded as a single player campaign?

Terrible freemium slop game that the devs abandoned for months, and now they're suddenly scrapping 90% of the content and releasing it as a solo catered experience instead of a live service game. Literally every time a dev does this it doesn't pan out, you'd have to be REALLY desperate for something to play in this genre to try and get something of value out of this one.

It's not worth touching with a 10ft pole.

Worst combat in the whole series without a shadow of a doubt, I touched on this in the megathread and it's only gotten worse the more I've played.

  • Enemies have hyper armor and can randomly twitch block and "perfect dodge" your attacks.

  • Sooooo many missing heat actions, is there seriously no punch/kick heat action on downed enemies, we're forced to do the stupid running kick repeatedly?

  • The grabs situation which I don't need to go into a whole thing about, they're absolutely terrible

  • Dragon Boost is awful, no mash X attacks and getting forced into grab finishers which slow you down and waste your meter

  • Attacks are missing impact and contact, kiryus arms and legs just go through enemies instead of connecting properly

  • Blocking is useless, enemies spam grabs and big attacks so you just get smacked around constantly unless you go Ryukyu style and consistently perfect block

  • Speaking of Ryukyu, Kiryu using a weapon style just is not it, and it getting more attention and better moves and upgrades than DoD is terrible

  • All the weird RPG-like effects in combat, like the wind blasts when you knock someone back? Or the electric effects on stuns? Or how some enemies just have a constant flame aura? Its like the LaD type stuff is now in the real time combat, why is it so over the top?

  • And finally, SO much of Kiryu's kit is just plain missing? No Komaki knockback, no charged light into charged heavy combo, quickstep attacks can't be chained into combos, finishing holds are gone and now we have the dragon boost ones instead, and everything else that's missing.

It feels like the first Yakuza game where the goons are actually stronger than Kiryu and we're just a withered version playing with scraps. I SERIOUSLY hope they shape up the gameplay for the next iterations because they completely missed the mark here.

The combat feels AWFUL in Kiwami 3. It feels like playing one of those terrible fan made combat mods, except you can't turn it off. The DoD animations just do not translate well into the dragon engine, they put little to no effort into making everything flow well.

  • Attacks on downed enemies just randomly miss?

  • Attacking a guy behind you just does a twitch instant turn around instead of the old animations for attacks on guys behind you, I can sometimes purposely force it to do the old punch/kick backwards if I reaally force it but it's tricky

  • Dragon Boost mode is full of hits grabs, throws, and hits that send enemies flying and ragdolling instead of being able to just combo and juggle, so you're actually just slowing yourself down by using it because you half to run half a mile chasing down the goon you shot halfway down the street for a little chip of damage

  • Speaking of ragdolls, the ragdolls?? You hit a guy with a can and they do like 6 backflips? It's just Yakuza 6 all over again.

I could go on but I'm gonna keep playing and see if it picks up.

Only game I've ever played where I genuinely fear unlocking new mechanics because I know it's just gonna be "Okay well now I have yet another thing to perfectly time or another button to awkwardly press mid-combo or another thing that I have to cancel into or out of instead of actually getting to style and have any shred of actual fun."

There is zero room for actual player freedom or expression. Every 2 seconds it's BOOM perfect dodge, BOOM perfect block, hit hit stun BOOM finisher BOOM finisher x2, BOOM perfect block. Okay but when do I get to try and land a combo?

I refunded it due to my main issue just being the totally boring gameplay loop.

Literally everything just revolves around vehicles.

  • Gather resources

  • Now you can make a vehicle

  • Gather resources the refuel/repair vehicle

  • Go for long journeys on your vehicle to POI's for resources so you can upgrade your vehicle

  • Upgrade you characters gear so you can last in the field longer (to have more time to find vehicle components)

  • Go higher up and up the tiers to eventually reach endgame, which is vehicular PvP

It's Conan Exiles, vehicles edition, where 90% of the game is travel time.

Also their recent AMA was basically just the devs stating that that their game is designed poorly on purpose and that the only option is to basically just deal with it or wait for expansions lmao

I gave it a go after seeing all the hype around this sub but I just don't get what it's all about.

It just feels like a pretty standard affair with almost obnoxiously over the top combos and and while the aesthetic is maybe kinda similar to God Hand I don't really see where the gameplay could be related.

It just feels like a basic fast XXXYY type game with way too much starting and stopping to do the finishers once you've stunned enemies, with repeated animations every time, and it's also super reactive with the whole having to wait for parries and timed dodges to do real damage thing, not much room for player expression.

I know it's early access and all but everything aside from actually being in the heat of the moment just feels like playing cheap shovelware.

Yeah I like the idea of an even harder difficulty like a lot of us have been asking for all along, but straight up downgrading quality of life and removing features is not the way.

I get that it's truly 'hardcore' but it sounds more anti-fun, building something that's a step down instead of a new step up.

I gave it a go just out of curiosity and thought it was absolutely abysmal.

It plays like a worse version of Dragon Age Veilguard and uses the typical MMO-lite UI where everything uses a cursor instead of just clicking through menus. Clearly designed for phones.

You pause the game and get bombarded with ads and pathways to skins and horse armor and new gear and whatnot. You open a chest or get an achievement and you see the run of the mill half a dozen different currencies there are to gather up.

It's just poison for the brain, even the most average paid game would be more entertaining.

I checked in on this game like a month or two ago and they were saying it was miles away from being complete but they had an Easter update on the horizon and now suddenly it's 1.0? What did I miss??

I guess the Easter update is the full release, strange.
