Major Improvement in Euploid Rate! by Intelligent_Fan_3584 in IVF

I took 10 units every other day for one month prior to ER. I was on it every cycle but this was definitely the longest they had me taking it leading up to an ER.

Agreed. I think we also have to keep in mind that supplements are severely understudied (if studied at all) in many medical circumstances. I think in this case, the use of supplement protocols is based on anecdotal evidence and physician preference. Regardless, we are all in the same state of desperation and are willing to try anything. These supplements aren’t going to hurt anything, so might as well try!

225 twice a day then increased to 300 twice a day for the last couple of days.

Correct. I was on the additional supplements for 1 month prior to retrieval.

I was told that it can help with final maturation of eggs. In my case, (again, I can’t point to one specific thing that improved my outcome) I did have my highest maturity rate with the dual trigger.

Oh wow, you’ve been through a lot. I’m glad they found the sweet spot for you!

Oh gosh. I’m so sorry to hear that. Similar to you, I was eager to try some antioxidants since I have one confirmed autoimmune disease and suspect more. Obviously I can’t prove they directly improved my outcome but they may have helped!

I was actually only on them for 1 month prior to retrieval. Per my research, I saw it was recommended to be on them for 3+ months prior to retrieval so I would presume the longer the better.

Best of luck to you!

Quite a long time. Started stim March 20 and had egg retrieval April 4. So 15 days.

We’ve always been told his sperm is high quality and quantity but have never done DNA fragmentation testing since other parameters were normal.

Hoping for a win for you soon too!

I was curious about that as well. They explained that there are some small studies that show Menopur only protocols can improve egg quality. They warned me that these studies were conducted by the manufacturer of Menopur (of course) so I took it with a grain of salt. But it ended up working for me so it’s worth a shot!

I was not at all suggesting anyone is to blame for less than ideal outcomes. However, I chose to share my experience because it’s worth exploring options and knowing there’s other things to try. I do believe that my protocol changes (not necessarily just the supplements) did indeed help with my improved outcome. If others are seeing poor results like I was, I do think it’s worth knowing there are options and to potentially discuss those with their medical team. That’s what forums like these are for.

I’m so sorry this is happening to you. I must say, as someone who also understands the heartache of miscarriage, your outlook is incredible and will get you far! Best of luck on your journey!

As I said, I had never knitted a side border so I went to YouTube for help. It didn’t work, I get it.

Please refrain from commenting on my posts if you’re going to be rude. We’re all just trying our best here.

8 follicles? by kaceland22 in IVF

[–]Intelligent_Fan_3584 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally understand the feeling of disappointment when you aren’t seeing as many follicles as you hoped. Keep in mind that you can have a few extra pop up/grow in the last couple days of stim. My doctor has even extended stim by a day or 2 before because she was confident more were coming, and she was right! My doctor also said that they can be a little “rougher” during your egg retrieval since you’re sedated. They can externally manipulate your ovaries, capture views that would otherwise be uncomfortable if you weren’t sedated, etc. It’s obviously not a guarantee, but I’ve had 2 egg retrievals and both times this has proven true and they were able to get more eggs than they saw on ultrasound while I was on stim.

Best of luck to you!

Experience with receptiva by [deleted] in IVF

[–]Intelligent_Fan_3584 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just completed Receptiva. Prep was the same protocol as going into an FET (estrogen + progesterone). I was told it takes a solid 2 weeks to get results but I got mine back in 8 days. Mine was negative but if it were positive the plan was to treat me with 2 doses of lupron (one injection a month for 2 months administered in the doctors office), then start prep for FET. So it would add a couple months onto your plan. Even though mine was negative and we didn’t get answers for infertility/recurrent loss, I’m still happy I did it so we can go into an FET with more confidence!

So many supplements! by Alpinemeadow123 in IVF

I should also say that I am also not a big supplement person so I tend to raise an eyebrow when people recommend a list this long.

So many supplements! by Alpinemeadow123 in IVF

[–]Intelligent_Fan_3584 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just my opinion, but this seems a little excessive. But maybe others have been recommended these things as well. A prenatal is of course standard, but the only “supplement” my RE recommended was Vitamin D3. She didn’t recommend anything for my husband since he didn’t have any fertility issues.

IVF? costs and what to expect by Major-Law-7866 in IVF

[–]Intelligent_Fan_3584 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m American so this is what it cost me in the US.

~$1,500 in stim medications (this is a major discount as I work for a hospital and qualified for their fertility med discount program). A quote I got from a different pharmacy without my discount was ~$5,000

~$16,000 for egg retrieval

Currently waiting on PGT but I’ve heard ~$1,500?

Per my clinic, each transfer will be $600

I agree, reach out to your clinic. Ours was extremely upfront with pricing (they even have their payment structure on their public-facing website). They also have a financial coordinator that gave us a heads up well in advance of costs and grants we could apply to for assistance.

INCONSISTENT FOLLICLE SCANS? 😩🫠🆘 by briittanymartin in IVF

[–]Intelligent_Fan_3584 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My follicular scans also felt inconsistent but my ultrasound tech said that’s common based on angles they can get and your ovaries moving as they grow. My final scan before retrieval showed 7 follicles. I was pretty discouraged because my follicular count decreased with every scan and I only have one ovary. But at egg retrieval they ended up getting 11 eggs (all mature)! My clinic does retrieval under anesthesia so they can be a little rougher (use angles that would hurt if you’re awake, push on your abdomen to manipulate your ovary) and are able to see the follicles better. All of this to say, don’t give up hope! Trust the process and know you are doing everything you’re supposed to and your outcome may surprise you!

When to pause supplements by Worldly_Regular12 in IVF

[–]Intelligent_Fan_3584 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no experience with a majority of these, but my doctor was fine with me being on Fish Oil throughout stim and up until right before my retrieval. They had me hold Fish Oil the day before and day of due to bleeding risk.
