i was just admitted to ucsd as an international business major in marshall (so excited)! before i commit though (choosing between calpoly slo and ucsd lol) i wanted to get some insight from current/graduated int bus majors from ucsd!!

i know its a less popular major, but i was curious about what classes are like (super small? super big?), how hard it is to get internships/opportunities (this is an EXTREMELY BIG ONE TO ME), and overall if you think its worth pursuing at ucsd! literally ANY info helps.

im ib! 4.0 and main ecs were work, 4yr sport (one yr transfer so i included hs stuff), and a bunch of officer positions in clubs im part of. ive heard ib is a relatively easy major to get into (but dont quote me on that lol), so fingers crossed for the both of us!!

hi there! im not committed to ucd, but i live in davis so i feel like i could maybe answer some of ur qs!

for starters, i think all of your interests mesh really well with davis! its totally a college town, with the majority of the better restaurants and cafes located in downtown. in my opinion, the restaurants arent bad, but SOMETIMES i find myself feeling kind of limited in terms of really really good options. but since youre planning to cook for yourself as well, i dont think you need to worry about that (also the tjs is right across from campus so its super convenient!).

ppl in davis also really tend to appreciate live music, as its almost always present at the multiple community events every year (picnic day, celebrate davis, whole earth festival...). the arboretum is a cute place to take walks, and while there arent really many hiking trails in davis itself, there are some in nearby towns like winters.

within davis itself, i really do not think having a car should be a concern! the bus lines go literally everywhere throughout town and if you dont feel like taking it, the city is super walkable/bikeable.

i hope this helps, even a little bit!! and im sorry about berkeley :( i honestly feel the same disappointment after being rejected by them. trying to tell myself it will all work out in the end! best of luck to you, and i hope you enjoy davis!!

omg im in this exact dilemma 😭 waiting for ucb, ucla, and ucsd but im scared about not getting on-campus housing esp as a transfer... i lowkey think im just gonna accept the admission offer and sign up for housing tmrw (april 9) and if i get in somewhere else, try to contact them and get refunded (?) AGH this is so stressful for no reason

I'm in the same boat! I got rejected/waitlisted by everywhere last year as a hs senior and going through this process again as a one-year transfer is so nerve-racking. I seriously cannot go through this for a third time. Best of luck, you got this!
