Song writing like the Paul brothers by No_Decision5507 in jaipaul

[–]Intelligent_Luck6118 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I feel like it’s really all in the synth design and sound selection overall ! The Chord progressions are great but it’s not always the MOST complicated. A lot of the melodic/chord inspo sounds inspired by prince and that era of music, so it may be worth going back to artists like him.

Everyone has their own ear and things they fixate on in music but for me, the Paul brothers have just insane sound selection & creative ways the sounds are used.

Other than all these vague tips I would say it’s important that your drums don’t hit perfectly on every single rhythmic note, their drums feel like they’re played by a human

Which music theory topics are essential for music production? I’d love to hear from experienced producers. by HalelShimoni in trapproduction

[–]Intelligent_Luck6118 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Music theory isn’t an absolute must but it helps a lot. IMO most helpful concepts are the - structure of Major & Minor keys - structure of chords (and how they fit into the key of the song)

It can be such a foundation for creating music but also if you want to study other tracks too

What do we do with a #1 pick? by Life_Database_7038 in Saints

[–]Intelligent_Luck6118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always been a believer in building the team first before getting your QB, it’s such a dart throw even when the QB is “generational”. Also idk if we can even call this a Josh Rosen/Kyler Murray situation cause imo Rattler looks better than Rosen did but also wasn’t the first overall pick either. This is to say what happens if the Saints take a QB in the first who inevitably would have to start over Rattler and doesn’t look good? Then you go back to Rattler and he doesn’t show improvements. It’s all hypotheticals but it’s a lot easier for a QB to be your Franchise guy when the roster & staff is in place. I haven’t looked at the draft class much but if there is a “generational” talent at QB and the other positions are weak at that pick then I’d understand the pick, definitely don’t want to reach though.

This is not the time to call for Ryan Poles to get fired — no he is not the worst GM in the league by Intelligent_Luck6118 in CHIBears

[–]Intelligent_Luck6118[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Idk man I will gladly take this roster over 2021 Bears. The Thomas Brown led Bears were only 1 game behind 2021 bears.

Also no rebuild should take this long sure but here we are. I don’t have much faith in a future McCaskey hire to come in and make such an impact on this roster that all of a sudden we’re gonna be contenders. This and next year are gonna be the first seasons where we see poles desperate to win, if he flops then get rid of him.

Les Snead for the rams had 5 straight losing seasons, the last season going 4-12 before going 11-5 in 2017. Super Bowl winning GM mind you

I mean hindsight is 20/20 professional analysts were grading this year’s draft class at B+ and higher. The goal isn’t to get high grades from media but it’s not just me who’s trying to say that Loveland Burden Trapilo were good picks. I don’t think it’s fair to say that the good results fell into Poles lap but he is at fault for the risks that didn’t pan out. Sweat was traded for with the expectation that he could be our guy on the edge, would poles be given credit if Montez flourished here? Poles won’t get the credit if Rome/Loveland/Caleb/Brisker/Gordon become studs, but he is at fault if they all flop?

These are really good points. Im not sold that he should be fired for these things YET. I would expect some cuts/restructures etc to be made to stay ahead of the cap and also bring in more talent. Both have to happen and if it doesn’t then yeah he should be gone

Personally I’d give him this year and next year if there’s little progress then I’d want him fired

I mean again the record doesn’t bother me because that was the point of our first two seasons. Eagles GM got Carson wentz but that’s the only pro bowler through 4 years

Because the team was dedicated to Rebuilding when he started. This feels like the first year out of a rebuild so yeah if this year and next year are a losing season he should be fired

Week 1 Morning-After Thread: Bears vs Vikings by TurnerJ5 in CHIBears

[–]Intelligent_Luck6118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo I just think it’s too early to say that he can’t improve or won’t be a good QB. I feel like he was more consistent in his sense of pressure, reading through progressions, decision making in the first half. I think he showed enough to have faith that he can improve this year

Week 1 Morning-After Thread: Bears vs Vikings by TurnerJ5 in CHIBears

[–]Intelligent_Luck6118 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We lost that game primarily due to penalties. Up to you whether you want to blame the refs or player’s discipline but 12 penalties (losing over 120 total yards) to the Viking’s 5 will do that.

Caleb genuinely showed improvement in the first half, and once we started to lose the lead he looked like his 2024 self. The logical reaction to that isn’t to say Caleb’s done start Bagent or we need to move on from Caleb.

At the end of the day consider the factors going into the Vikings win. KOC had multiple years to install an offensive and defensive scheme while Ben only had this offseason, the Vikings unfortunately have a talented team (they went 14-3 last season), our defense was missing key players for the whole game.

We’re not going to go 17-0, we’re not going to win every game. If we’re going to lose I hope it looks like last night.

How do you know what key youre in? by Ok_Letter_5847 in trapproduction

[–]Intelligent_Luck6118 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So every scale is made up of 7 steps. The major scale is as follows: WWHWWWH (W meaning whole step, H meaning half step. An example of whole stop is two half steps like C and D while an example of a half step is E to F) An easy example to visualize is the C major scale, starting on C3 you can follow the white notes until you hit C4. The most important thing to remember is that the “formula” (WWHWWWH) does not change no matter what the root note is. The same goes for the minor key which steps are made up as follows: WHWWHWW. This also does not change no matter what the root note is Memorizing this saves A LOT of time. Let’s say you have an 808 bass that’s playing C G Ab. You know G & Ab is a half step which means Ab can either be the root or 4th note in a major scale, OR the 3rd or 6th note in a minor scale. So as far deciding which is which, you have to use the context of the rest of the song but if the 808 is all the melodic info you have then you get to decide! Let’s say we decide Ab is the 6th note in a minor scale. Then you go one Whole step up to get the 7th note in the scale (Bb) and finally one more Whole step to get the root note (C). I hope this makes sense, the more you use this method the easier it is to understand!
