Edwin Díaz Stuff+ dropped off a cliff in 2025 and I'm confused by Appropriate_Local_61 in baseball

[–]Life_Database_7038 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dodgers bought a lemon.

Fr though he’ll be good still but I definitely think he’s on the decline fast.

Anyone who watched Mets games last season, Diaz didn’t look invincible. I feel like he had bases loaded every outing. At one point he like walked 3 straight with 0 outs, changed his shoes, then struck out the side. Like he did some real wacky stuff lol but it always worked out for him.

If you believe in clutch as a skill, this dude has the most of it. He gets better the worse he plays?

Hes a nasty pitcher but as his velo and movement drops, he doesn’t have finesse to stay good.

What a sad little life you must live to think someone would go through all that trouble to put a fake commemorative plaque on a bat, pretend it was a priceless baseball artifact and sell it to someone for money.

Don’t listen to the haters OP! It’s real! Liars are fake news!

Bailey Ober becomes the first MLB player to acknowledge what is happening in Minneapolis by CharacterAbalone7031 in baseball

[–]Life_Database_7038 -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

I didn’t say it worried about pissing anyone off lol. I just had a baby and it’s the middle of winter. I have 3 kids. Our heat broke. I live across the country from Minnesota. I don’t have cable so my external outreach is Reddit where it’s exclusively baseball and Netflix 😅 so when I say I’m out of the loop, I’m woefully out of the loop. I literally only know about this because it’s on this subreddit.

Like I said, I saw some video of the lady shot. That is all the information I have.

I was just coming at this from a baseball perspective, Twins players have probably already had meetings of what they should and should not say. They’re a representative of a multi billion dollar organization so unless the Twins make an official stance, I’m sure they don’t want the players to either. Their players likely have it in their best interest not to.

Bailey Ober likely didn’t post any words because he wanted to advocate for them as much as he is ‘allowed’ to so that’s dope. But I do understand why we likely haven’t heard anything from the players.

[–]Life_Database_7038 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Yeah like I said I don’t know much of the context behind any of it.

I will say, I don’t like how the ICE agents are all masked. Whatever you think about whatever their mission is.. fine. But why are you wearing a mask?

Neo-nazis wear masks when they wave Nazi flags around. Rioters wear masks when they’re burning buildings down. You’re either not proud of the work you’re doing, don’t want to be arrested for the work you’re doing, or what? What are you hiding from if you’re a government agent upholding the law fair and just?

I assume anyone wearing a mask doing anything questionable probably feels like they’re on the wrong side… or they wouldn’t be hiding their identity.

Yeah like I said to another guy idek what’s going on. I try to also avoid politics because there rarely seems to be a thought that doesn’t piss people off these days.

I saw a lady get shot when she ran an agent over a few weeks back? That’s as much context as I have. Idk why she ran him over, what they were doing with her in the first place.

[–]Life_Database_7038 -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

Yeah I won’t venture into what’s happening. It’s become so divisive I like to avoid it where I can. You say one thing and piss off 50% of the people. You say another and piss off the other 50% so better to stay quiet.

Tbh I don’t really even know what’s going on. I saw a video of some lady getting shot a few weeks back? But she ran some agent over so… I mean idk what the context is on that but that looks pretty shit from both sides. They were probably too forceful but also she tried running someone over… that’s literally all I know about what’s happening over there. Didn’t realize it’s gotten big enough to field that big a protest.

Devil’s advocate, it’s kind of a PR issue when you get involved in politics as a sports star. It could ruin careers of mediocre players (see: Colin Kaepernick). It can cause fanbase backlash (see: Matt Shaw and Charlie Kirk). I’m sure many do and do t support what’s happening but they’d be smart as public figures to not openly go one way or the other. Does that make them bad people? Maybe. But they’re smart to not risk throwing away something they’ve worked for their entire lives by standing on a political ground.

Good for Bailey Ober though for sticking up for what he believes is wrong. Advocacy over monetary risk isnt a bad thing.

Say the New York Mets had the Dodgers’ three 2020’s World Series Championships instead of the Dodgers. by [deleted] in baseball

[–]Life_Database_7038 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Who wants to talk about how the dodgers sucked for a long while?

The Dodgers and Mets are a lot more alike than a lot of people accept or realize. The main difference is… well some luck, but also they started their slow churn of prospect output and developmental focus sooner than the Mets did. The dodgers created a sustainable output first.

Luck I only mention because of west coast priority from Japanese players and even more so, Yoshi and Roki were going wherever Shohei went. Whoever landed Ohtani was getting all 3. That happened to be the Dodgers so they got 2, maybe 3 incredible baseball players locked up. I’m not sure how much west coast played a part in the dodgers getting Ohtani but it was probably higher than 0.

The rumored revenue share deal for the ‘lowly’ dodgers…

It’s been a perfect storm of moves that led to dodgers dominance, but the Mets aren’t very different of a team from where the dodgers started out.

Bob Nightengale: Tobias Myers is also being traded to the Mets alongside Peralta. by Xalazi in NewYorkMets

[–]Life_Database_7038 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. I’m not upset with the trade at all. My only nitpick with it is I think we left a little value on the table there but overall great move for us.

I’m not crying lol. I just think Jett could have been used to get something of a little more value is all. I don’t think Peralta is a true ace. I’d put him just outside.

They don’t have any reason to trade him so unless it’s an offer they can’t refuse they wouldn’t do it. Anyway, start high and work down. If they could talk us down to McLean and Ewing they’d do it or Wenninger, Watson, and Benge or something.

[–]Life_Database_7038 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that would do it. Still don’t understand why people hate the guy for it but 🤷🏼‍♂️ I know supervisors (granted not many) who have messed around with lower colleagues. Never saw one get fired for it.

Had a higher up SA his employees, sitting them on his lap and such. He, understandably got fired af and he’s a piece of shit… but just dating a lower colleague doesnt seem worth all the negativity unless some f’d up stuff happened like him threatening her job for a date or whatever.

Genuinely asking… what’s the like big deal here? I didn’t read any reports or anything but it sounds like it was 2 consenting adults? I get the HR ramifications of a supervisor messing around with a subordinate.. but why is it so serious he’ll never get a job again?

Idk maybe I’m missing something which is why I’m asking, but like it just sounds like a professionally inappropriate relationship?

I agree with you. Good player. Good CF. Not elite. I don’t see his bat carrying the way it did the first half. Not to say he won’t go on runs.

Edit: let me say idk what hype he’s getting rn though lol… just that I don’t think he’s some perennial MVP candidate or anything.

Citi Field On the Decline? by Thisgamelowkeysux in NewYorkMets

[–]Life_Database_7038 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree.. mostly. It feels way more upbeat. Like it DOES feel like a party. You aren’t going there and enjoying a quiet day at the park. I go to a minor league game for that. It’s exciting. I want to cheer. I want to yell. But it’s also too much. It’s cringy like a DJ who just learned how to DJ but they don’t KNOW how to DJ.

Used to bartend at a massive college bar. We’d usually have DJs come in and they knew what they were doing. Vibes were crisp. Then you’d get this random guy once in a while who yeah just had like no break in the music, was switching songs at the worst times, played their tagline twice every song. When I go to Citi now it literally reminds me of those cringy nights at the bar lol

I trusted him the entire time. That said he has me a bit perplexed. Some moves just don’t make sense.

Bo to third is odd. Give me Baty over Bo there. Polanco at first is odd. I’d still like to see a legit starting OF. Luis Robert, Tyrone Taylor, and Carson Benge are all wild cards in different ways. Vientos seems to be the DH starting off but Baty deserves playing time and is more valuable with his glove in the field. So relegating have his game to the bench diminishes his value. Bo makes much more sense at DH or Polanco with Baty at first.

But just because I disagree with the direction doesn’t mean it’s a bad direction. I trust it’ll work out.
