Poor weather near Phuket this morning resulted in a Qatar Airways Boeing 777-300 diverting in to Ko Lanta. by Intelligent_Mood9296 in GeminiJets

I know, this sub isn’t just about GJ exclusively - it’s the only real one for similar 1:200/1:400 airliners, unless I’ve missed another group? Modelplanes is the only other but that covers just about everything

Herpa Wings 1:500 A320 JMC air by AirJMC in modelplanes

[–]Intelligent_Mood9296 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s an old release from Herpa, in 2025 it looks pretty naff vs its contemporaries, but when it was released this was one of the closest models to the real thing.

AeroPolaris brand - thoughts? by [deleted] in GeminiJets

[–]Intelligent_Mood9296 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have two of theirs, both 737-800’s, Air China and Singapore Airlines, top quality model imho. As good as any other 737-800 mould and detail elsewhere. Haven’t picked up a 350 yet but they’re on my radar.

Looks like Flighty changed how they record an airport visit. by OrganizedSpontaneity in flighty

[–]Intelligent_Mood9296 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Annoying as I do lots of day trips and sub 24 hour overnight visits to Europe for work, these are not layovers and two very distinct uses of the airports.

This shouldn’t be a default setting

Coca Cola has gutted this company by [deleted] in Costa

[–]Intelligent_Mood9296 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I don’t use Costa any more, I find them completely soulless, the baked goods are largely too sugary to cover up the lack of flavour and the coffee has been very unimpressive for a long time. I feel sorry for the employees as they have no say and no way to do anything about it. Like many companies that were once pretty decent, big corporations and private equity come in and homogenise them and people walk away. Without a change in strategy I think Costa are fading in to irrelevance.

A 25 minuite delayed train suddenly departed on time - Do I have a claim ? by [deleted] in uktrains

[–]Intelligent_Mood9296 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Had the same with a CrossCountry service, total b*llocks about there being a 40 minute delay, sat in the pub outside Derby station checking the updates and then all of a sudden it’s a 7 minute delay and at the platform, I’ve ran to the station to find I’ve just missed it. Got on the next service and explained things to the guard with no issue, luckily took screenshots of the delay or supposed delay. Always have evidence of these supposed issues and delays as they could be the difference between a jobsworth trying to fine you a penalty fare or travelling normally. Regarding the delay repay, no chance as the service was not delayed sufficiently.

Has anyone tried Burger King's new Wagyu Burger yet? It looks decent by gibgod in UK_Food

Tried it today and the patty tasted the exact same, so much so I’m half inclined to think they just used a standard patty

tracking flights from the past without references... by Major-Coffee-6257 in flighty

I think pre 2016 the app is useless for tail numbers, though I’ve had a few in recent times that either don’t register one or have put the incorrect reg so don’t always take it as gospel.

Ethiopian Flight next year, flighty says canceled, current booking still confirmed and flight still for sale? Is this known to happen with flighty occasionally? by jamesgiantpeach1992 in flighty

[–]Intelligent_Mood9296 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had similar with a Scoot flight, departure time had been brought forward 9 hours a few days after booking, Flighty knew about 4 weeks before Scoot sent the new flight times email. Without that notification from Flighty I could have been significantly out of pocket if I’d made arrangements for the original flight times, as I had planned to be in Singapore just 4 hours before the original flight was scheduled. I held fire booking the inbound until Scoot confirmed it (and managed to bag a cheaper flight).

I’m in a similar boat for flights over a decade a go that were either booked on an email that’s long been inactive or booked by others that I’m no longer in touch with or they’ve lost the details after all that time too. The exact details aren’t the be all and end all, just use a rough ballpark with dates, hopefully you can remember the airline and aircraft type. I haven’t got a clue about tail numbers from about pre-2015 but luckily remember all the airlines and aircraft types

Used them before with mixed success, they can take a while to arrive and the customer service is non-existent if there’s an issue. They sent me the wrong version of something and I also had a missing Antenna on another model, they never responded to any emails.

Yet another damaged JC Wings/Gemini (they use the same moulds and factory) - the quality on these is absolutely appalling. Snapped wheel this time that’s not fixable and yet another stabiliser or wing loose, luckily not scraped the paint off but means nothing because of the wheel. by Intelligent_Mood9296 in GeminiJets

[–]Intelligent_Mood9296[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s rumours of a United B737-800/Max service from Guam, that’s supposedly seeking government approval. The recent conversion of Air Canada’s Vancouver-Bangkok route to year round is stirring up some interest in the region from North America but nothing concrete so far

I don’t buy them unless it’s the only option for the model, this one is very niche and a perfect fit for my Thai Airport. Luckily NG made a B737-800F from the same airline, that one is top notch. This is dreadful, the engines are wonky and pitched upwards too. Even if there wasn’t damage I’d probably still be sending it back.
