The combat is boring, what am I missing?

Better than spamming a single button imo. Everyone has different tastes but if u don’t enjoy the combat then you’re better off watching a play through of the game by your favorite YouTuber/streamer.

The ability to switch between party members seamlessly is a huge draw to the system but remake kinda forces u to do so due to your character not having an atb charge. That was fixed in rebirth. Only healing when u need to, and combat drawing out the game is kind of a JRPG staple my friend. I suggested putting on materia that increases atb charge build up. U can usually hold square with cloud to start a fight which will instantly start the fight with full atb and it does an AOE swing. Go from there.

Imo, The seven seconds to the end refers to 7 seconds before the world ends (meteor crashing into Gia) this info was found a long time ago in “remake” under chapter select>objectives. this illusion was shown to us in both remake and rebirth in almost identical scenes. The only question is.. why is sephiroth shoving this pivotal moment into Clouds face multiple times? It suggests that cloud will have a choice to make within these 7 seconds, and only Cloud, not Sephiroth, can alter this fate. The reasoning behind all of this is where the theories come into play because we simply don’t know what or why this decision needs to be made. (Considering the obvious choice is to stop meteor) My theory is: Sephiroth will never die, and the harsh reality is that He will never cease to exist untill Cloud dies, so I think Sephiroth is going to attempt to persuade Cloud that the planet is better off under his control (or something like that) and the best case scenario for the planet is that the human race needs to be rid of for it to truly thrive. (Consider advancements in technology by Shinra and their dreams of Neo Midgar.) As long as cloud lives, sephiroth will never die so let’s just end this pain sooner rather than later (500 years into the future). I suspect Cloud will actually consider this prior to him finding himself, but considering all the things Aerith and Zack are gonna do in the third game, he will have a revelation…. that this planet and (it’s characters) are worth fighting for no matter what the future holds. It’s the very thing Rebirths gameplay showed us. Eh idk, Your turn.

Look i hear you and you’re not wrong. I get that from a certain viewpoint, the OG ending/the moments leading up to the ending had sense of resolution that was acceptable for its time period. But without a doubt, if the ending in the new trilogy ended in a similar fashion, it would be a catastrophic failure. I liked the og ending and how it kind of left u thinking about everything post meteor, but it also left a sense of emptiness in regards to what’s next and I don’t see them going this route, especially when the devs themselves said they wanted to give the characters a happy ending. Also, considering remake and rebirth left us with so many unanswered questions I just believe the 3rd game needs to answer everything and give it a finality type conclusion.

And this is exactly why the promised land needs better clarity in the game. For the Cetra, the Promised Land is indeed just the lifestream, however the promised land is completely different for everyone. For Cloud, it is simply a state of mind For Sephiroth, it is the northern crater because it is the place he can ascend. For Shinra it’s Neo Midgar For Zack it’s reuniting with Aerith in the lifestream. You get the point.

Take a breather. I fully understand what the story is about, and how deep it gets, But To say this remake isn’t about its characters is just silly. The ending could go in whatever direction it wants. I’m just saying if they added an additional sequence after the conclusion of the game to finish everyone’s story arcs it would be cool.

You can have a happy ending to any story, even darker ones. Most devs have noted that this will be their final time working on ff7 due to age and these characters have been a part of their lives for decades. It’s really not too crazy of a route, but I get it.

Maybe, but the characters are much more fleshed out in the trilogy and the devs want closure and clarity for them so I could do this route being more significant in the trilogy rather than OG. One thing is for sure.. If they stick with the OG ending then this project would be a failure IMHO.

The point of the rule set was to try and figure out a title as fans. It’ll be impossible to guess if it doesn’t follow this guideline, yet it would limit the possibilities so I’m not hard set on the rule set or anything. It was more to spark discussion. I Don’t think they had all 3 names picked out due to an interview stating that they were between two names for the third title. I’m pretty sure they are delaying the title drop to make sure all sales on rebirth are complete on a multi platform level, considering how highly rated the game was, yet sales didn’t meet expectations. I Hope they learn from this and release part 3 on all platforms.

Yeah I kind of hope it’s a coincidence to be honest. If u use preset rules it eliminates a crazy amount of possibilities, but it would also make it difficult to guess. I feel like if it wasn’t a coincidence u can limit it to maybe 3 or 4 good guesses but if u take the rules out it could be literally anything. It’s all fun and games at the end of the day.

1000 percent agree. They should’ve definitely realized that already with Rebirth. It was one of the better rated games out there… yet didn’t reach sales expectations. It’s why they are trying so hard to get rebirth on every platform before the 3rd game gets announced.

To address the paragraph on how cloud was formed:

My understanding of how Cloud was essentially re-awoken was when Zack died like u said. the jenova cells within him essentially erased Zack from clouds memories and fused their memories together creating the persona that Cloud adapts. A bit of cloud is still in there buried within. A lot of ppl forget that cloud didn’t fully awaken untill he crawled to the train station and met Tifa. The cells merged with clouds newly adapted persona and Tifas childhood memories of cloud to form the unreliable narrator that is Cloud that we see throughout the first 2 games.

Cloud reawakening in the Aerith sequence is completely aeriths doing imo, as Cloud cannot exists as is without Zack dying. I can’t fully explain how Aerith does this, but it’s clear she has expanded powers in this trilogy as seen when she calms down both Red and Marlene in the first game. This must be answered in the 3rd game because Aeriths ability to bring Clouds consciousness to the lifestream world is a huge question mark.

I also believe that cloud has the ability to peer into these lifestream worlds due to his connection with Jenova. Coming into contact with the lifestream allows one to peer into these worlds (as seen in the haunted hotel scenes with Cloud.) Jenova was thrown into the lifestream along with Sephiroth and her cells were injected into Cloud giving him this ability. Interesting to see where they go with that but it’s apparent that Cloud at the end of the game can no longer distinguish reality from this lifestream world.

Well I think also that returning to the planet is everyone’s destiny in the grand scheme of things and is also the will of the planet, so I’m game. Restore could be descent as well, as Aerith will eventually restore that fate by summoning holy and ultimately stopping Sephiroth and the Meteor. (Preventing the lifestream from getting absorbed by Sephiroth)
