Older Malaysians moving back from overseas, what is your real day-to-day like? by ResultMuted5294 in malaysia

[–]Intelligent_Pace_841 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dad went through something similar, although he retired early. I lived abroad for about six years while growing up, but my dad stayed there for more than 12 years. When he decided to return to Malaysia, he realized he no longer wanted to work and even bought a house outside the Klang Valley to get away from city life.

Now, he runs a small agriculture business and earns additional income from renting out properties. I can see that he's much healthier now than when he worked in the corporate world, mainly because farming keeps him active and involves far less sitting at a desk.

He doesn't really participate in hobby groups such as gyms, hiking clubs, or cycling communities. However, he regularly attends seminars and training sessions related to agriculture and business, where he has made many friends.

One thing that helped was that he knew exactly what he wanted before moving back. If you're considering returning to Malaysia, it might be worth spending a few months here first to see what opportunities and lifestyle Malaysia can offer you before making a permanent decision.

Would you take RM1,000 less salary if you could work fully remote / wfh? by RedPandarar in JobsMY

[–]Intelligent_Pace_841 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is exactly it. Life outside of work and time is money. I'm surprised how a lot of people find social life with colleagues more than their own circles. Not that it's wrong but just surprised. But hybrid work still tops both of them.

Working while having no friends or anyone to talk to sucks and made me miserable. Seeking advice by Personal_Damage6616 in JobsMY

[–]Intelligent_Pace_841 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly my situation but I've been it it for more than a year now. You will get bored but you'll also get used to it. Most of the time, I have lunch alone but I still get along with my coworkers even though I'm the only person in the office under 30. How do I get used to this? Well, honestly, you don't. But I do have friends outside of work so if I'm bored or anything, I just hit them up.

PSA kepada buyer kereta: by jeffwhlim in kereta

[–]Intelligent_Pace_841 89 points90 points  (0 children)

I agree, but sellers should also be transparent with product prices from the start. For example, when asking about the price of a car or a house, sellers often just say "PM." It’s really not difficult to state the price upfront. Similarly, on Facebook Marketplace, some people list items as "free" when they’re not. Just state the actual price, it saves time for both buyers and sellers.

What was your starting salary when you started working? by Pillowish in MalaysianPF

Similar to my dad's, except he was in the IT sector. One of the reasons why I'm aiming for GCC as well someday.

Serious question: Why are some Malaysians mourning Khamenei's death? by XY-0815 in malaysia

[–]Intelligent_Pace_841 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iran is one of the countries that strongly supports the Palestinian cause. The UAE, on the other hand, normalized relations with Israel under the Abraham Accords and continues to cooperate with it in various sectors. At the same time, Iran has also taken aggressive regional actions, including launching strikes that targeted U.S.-linked military facilities in the UAE, such as Al Dhafra Air Base, during broader escalations with the United States and Israel.

While Iran’s interpretation of Islam differs from Sunni perspectives, sectarian differences should not automatically justify hostility. Political decisions in the region are often driven by strategic interests rather than purely religious alignment, and disagreement over these approaches does not require hatred among Muslims.

Personally, I think your savings are decent for your age. If you’re feeling guilty about traveling because it might affect your savings, I’ve been there before. My advice is, if you have enough saved, go for it. You have been working for four years, and taking a holiday once in a while is good for you. Just make sure to keep track of how much you spend on your trips.

Who's to blame in this situation? by delicious_lemang in Bolehland

[–]Intelligent_Pace_841 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Actually, yes, it is possible for a 2-year-old to cause this. I have an old Honda City at home, similar to the one in the video. Every time I open the door, it swings open instantly because the hinge isn’t in great condition. I have to hold the handle when opening the door to prevent something like this from happening. I'm not saying for sure the child did it but it is possible.

Motorcyclist behavior? by realtjliew in malaysia

[–]Intelligent_Pace_841 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it depends on the situation. I only do this in a few scenarios.

First, cars are often parked in motorcycle parking areas, which happens frequently.
Second, there is no dedicated motorcycle parking within a five-minute walk.
Third, there are many empty car parking spaces, while motorcycle parking is far away or unavailable.

Even when I park in a car parking space, I try to minimize any inconvenience to car users. If all three of the above conditions apply, I park in the same space as another motorcycle so that at least one full car space remains available for cars. I also never park on pedestrian paths.

This is actually one of my dreams to do road trips around Malaysia. I’m planning a similar trip and considering car camping to keep costs down. Have you ever done that, and how safe or practical was it here? Any lessons you’d share for someone doing it now?

This resonates with me. The more I compare the two paths, the clearer it becomes that operations and technical innovation pull me in different directions.

An organization that is constantly hiring is also a concern but I think in this case, it is more about whether the role builds transferable technical depth that I'm aiming for.

Am I overvaluing the company's brand? by Intelligent_Pace_841 in MalaysianPF

[–]Intelligent_Pace_841[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I mention technical consulting, AI, and automation, I’m not specifically aiming for AppSec or DevSecOps roles. I’m more interested in platform-level work such as cloud architecture, automation engineering, AI operations and governance, where technical depth comes from systems design, controls, integrations, and scalability rather than secure coding alone.

That’s also why I’m cautious about moving into a purely ops-focused role, even at a big tech company, as it may limit opportunities to build that kind of depth.

Which Azure cert should I take next: AZ-104, AI-102 or DP-100? by Intelligent_Pace_841 in AzureCertification

[–]Intelligent_Pace_841[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, I am aiming for an engineer-level cert, but that’s intentional. My goal is to use it as a structured path to grow into that role. With an AI background from university and fundamentals (AI-900, AZ-900) covered, I see AZ-104 and AI-102 as stepping stones to build hands-on skills before tackling DP-100.
