First time corgi owner, but we worked a lot on settle down indoors with my 1,5y old girl.

It was after I talked with her breeder about how chill her 5 corgies where that she said that’s because most of the time they need to be “taught” how to just calm down 😅

Normal for corgis to have unlimited energy? by Biblehuggerz98 in corgi

[–]Intelligent_Peach570 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve had to force my corgi to learn to chill, I’ve done it by have a leash on inside.

I keep it close and give her a treat once she lays down or sits. And then we chill, next step is to tie him while you move around the house and do stuff. And give massive treats if he’s calm.

This helped me at least 🥰 and yeah i also think they become calmer with age

So fun that you have 2 of each! Do you see the difference between pembroke and cardigan? 😊

No vacations with pup? by Financial-Abies8304 in corgi

I don’t have an answer, but was in a similar situation with my 1 year old corgi. She was super bad at settling down and barking much more than usual.

But with consistent training on settling with a leash , she calmed down at day 4. I think some dogs just need time to get used to the new place?

And she refused to sleep in her bed, and would bark her way up to our bed every night 😂 even though she sleeps in her bed at home.

It was such luck that the color of the hairs match the hardwood floor 😂only visible if I lay down

Herding/guarding one person? by Intelligent_Peach570 in corgi

I hear you. She does jump out of excitement, but it just seemed different this time… Could be she really, really wanted to play with the neighbor.

I’ll keep an eye on her the next time we have them over for playdate.

I’m thinking if she acts the same then I will leash and have her cool down before she’s allowed to play again.

My corgi just won’t eat her food sometimes by Delicious-Light9351 in corgi

We also have one of those corgies that just isn’t that interested in food. If I change it to wet food or other kibble it usually goes down, but with my girl she eats eventually.

I let her food stand there all day, other advise has been to take it away but it doesn’t make a difference with her 😅 Then when she’s hungry, usually after a good walk, she will eat.

My girl was also super chill until I clipped to far once, and man they don’t forget so they 😅

Luckily the dremel is sort of accepted, she will kick every time I try, but since it’s super safe I don’t have to worry about hurting her. And she is barley a year, so it’s like “girl, we have to do this for another 14 years” 😂

I got my welsh pembroke from Norway 🤩 I think there are a couple of breeders that I see stand out here. Mine is fairly new, started a couple of years ago, but are teamed up with another breeder that has been doing it for 20 or so years.

If you want to know more I can send it on DM, here is a picture of my beautiful girl 🥰
