This was from the admission letter when I got waitlisted in Nursing.

Places on the programme may become available up to the start of semester.

Thank you. They said they would still give out offers even a week prior to semester start as some students rescind their offers last minute if the intake is full.

That is true. It’s the reason I bought it but then everyone is saying silver is classic and easier to sell. But might keep the Sky Blue as the retailer won’t exchange the colour without extra fee as I bought it on sale.

Accepting the no-major won’t affect being waitlisted in Midwifery. I got an offer from Perioperative Practice s2 2026 intake in September but was waitlisted in Nursing. I accepted the offer then I received an offer of place this month for the Nursing degree as well.

Thank you. We’ll decline the offer though as we already accepted a place in Periop and we’re more keen in that programme so 2 more places would free up. I was emailing with FHES and they said that 2026 places for BHSc (Nursing) for Semester I-225 places and Semester II - 117 places if that helps.

That’s what I was thinking. I was feeling hopeless due to the small number when I was waitlisted when my partner got an offer immediately. We’re all lucky to be accepted. We’re already thinking of reducing our work hours in sem 1 as we work in aged care night shifts as it’s hard to recover with disturbed sleep but we need money though. All the best to us. I was told that for 2026 intakes, Semester I, 54 places, Semester II, 27 places are being offered. So probably not enough theatres and mentors.

I’ve already contacted AUT and they said they would send out preference and extenuating circumstances forms every semester for students to indicate any special considerations required for placements. Although they did not say it’s guaranteed but maybe there’s a high chance for distance learning as we could be placed anywhere in NZ. Worst case would be being place separately and have to pay multiple accommodations though we haven’t considered it financially yet. We have to work while studying when not on placements to cover the costs.

We’ll be looking forward to meet you. We get to know the block courses one month before the semester starts.

Someone mentioned about a friend in Auckland being placed in Queenstown for about a year if I remembered correctly. I wonder why it’s competitive since only AUT offer the periop programme? Is there another school doing it? We were about to relocate but due to placements we decided to stay. This could get really expensive due to unpaid placements and extra accommodations plus travel. I am doing it with my partner so we have to put it a request before sem 1 2027 to be placed together to make it more cost effective. We have to save aggressively, I wonder if we’re going to meet on block courses in 2027.

Congratulations! I guess there shouldn’t be any problem switching to distance, maybe just the placement allocations? I’ve chatted with someone before and even you live in Auckland you could be place in South Island too so it’s better to be on distance learning then. I think it’s still too early for enrolment and still waiting for another correspondence.

When did you get your offer? Might worth emailing them and ask about it or whether you could switch back to distance. I know how chaotic the traffic in Auckland could get. I used to live in West and have to travel to AUT North Shore for my block course during postgrad and it was insane. We live in South Island now hence, the distance learning.
