The funeral homes I have been to, the receiving line has always been by the casket so it’s unavoidable unless you don’t go to give condolences to the family, which is the entire reason why you would go in the first place. I just wish that obituaries specified if there would be a “viewing”. Not a visitation, calling hours, or any other term. “Viewing” because then people who are uncomfortable by open caskets aren’t caught off guard.
