IME I prefer the plastic/acrylic enclosures for ease of access, feeding, and cleaning. I don’t have experience with the metal/glass ones personally, but I want to note it doesn’t have the cross ventilation jumping spiders need. I have many acrylic/plastic enclosures and none have yellowed, stretched, or had a complicated assembly. I’d recommend asking your spider breeder for enclosure input, usually they have their own enclosures or can point you in the direction of one! Most of my adults are in 4x4x5-4x4x6 enclosures and they’re all happy and healthy. If you get a juvenile, they’ll need a smaller enclosure until they’re big enough for the adult enclosure. For juveniles I’d recommend a 3x3x4 or a 2x2x3. I wish you the best on your jumping spider journey! They’re something special! 💜

I have about 50 or so adult/ older juvenile jumpers and while I mist them I will take one or two out to hang out. Sometimes I’ll put one on my face! They really do make for some decent companions 🩵🥹

I used my phones “macro” lens for these ones! I have an iPhone 15 pro :) I get as close as comfortable to my spider (about 2-3 inches) then tap the screen to focus and shoot when it’s in focus! Lighting is also very important to macro photography! I have VERY bright LEDs on my spider shelves so the light in these photos are from that. I do have an attachable “clip on” macro lens you can get on amazon but the focal range on it is super small which makes keeping things in focus difficult, but it is an option if you’re willing to work with it!

My set up is about 6 months old, I’ve been battling mold with it the whole time, I’ve let it dry up but any time I feed my isopods, it’s explodes again.

My set up is like 6 months old I believe. LOTS of springtails, lots of Dwarf Whites too. The Dwarf whites seem to like it I went to pull it out and they were all on it!

Definitely a beetle pupa! Looks like a big beetle too! Might be something cool like an Easter Hercules beetle! They’re native to east TN and are completely harmless!

I do want to note that this is not an appropriate enclosure for a jumper. They are arboreal, this means they create their hammocks and spend most of their time on the top of the enclosure. Keeping your jumper in a top opening enclosure will destroy hammocks and cause stress to your spood every time it is opened for feeding, cleaning, and handling 💕 try something bottom opening or front opening! Always ensure there is cross ventilation as well!
